DIY Projects with a Yard of Fabric
Every month the Decor Enthusiast Style team puts together a challenge that you the reader can participate in with us.
This month the theme is working with fabric specifically a yard….. give or take. I am sharing my DIY Projects with a Yard of Fabric.
Today I'm sharing a collection of ideas from my archives using fabric. I didn't realize I had as many as I do!
Fabric can be such a simple way to update something in your home that perhaps you have just grown tired of or maybe it's that perfect thrift store item!
Maybe you have just a plain office chair that you'd love to update. This one was purchased new, but I see them all the time at the thrift store. It was rather plain, and I wanted to give my office space a little color and character. I had recently painted it to brighten it up. I found this fabric at Hobby Lobby. I bought a yard and a half, but depending on the material and pattern, you may need less. The tutorial for this Office Chair Hack, was as simple as deconstructing the chair and re-stapling fabric. You'll notice that the back part is a little different, and I added nail-head trip to hide the ugliness of the staples. It had such a custom look now for very little money!
Drop cloth is fabulous for DIY home decor projects. It's so cheap and makes a great surface for image transfer projects. You can read all about this Easy Je t'aime Framed Art and be on your way to creating decor and gifts.
Burlap is another affordable fabric. You can find many printed burlap fabrics these days that are fabulous. I have a soft spot in my heart for grain sack stripes. I decided to paint my fabric for this project. This is the second time that this chair has been painted, but I kept the fabric the same. It is perfect for the French Farmhouse look. You can see the posts about this chair HERE and HERE.
This Monogrammed Embroidery Hoop Wreath using fabric is so simple.
N0-Sew Floral Pillow with a monogrammed button.
This toile fabric is one of my favorites in our home. I'd use it in every room if I could get away with it. This is my makeup stool in our master bath. It started out as a thrift store find. You can read about the paint finish and details HERE.
If you can sew a straight line, you can update your outdoor pillows. I simply covered my old, faded outdoor pillows. The details are HERE.
Maybe I am using that same toile in other areas of our home. I love it I tell you! I used the same technique in the post above. Details HERE.
You can use a ready-made pillow cover from Hobby Lobby and create a deer pillow with less than a yard of fabric. Details are HERE. This pillow was actually a Christmas gift.
These pillows were also Christmas gifts for my 2 nieces. Again, I used ready-made pillow covers from Hobby Lobby and less than a yard of fabric to create the monogram with my Silhouette Cameo. The full tutorial is HERE.
This thrift store makeover is one of my favorites using outdoor fabric. The new No-Sew Shade really added some whimsy to the porch.
Drop cloth from the hardware store to the rescue again! Paint a stencil on it and it's a quick and inexpensive update for the screened porch. No-Sew Stenciled Drop Cloth Ottoman
This burlap was preprinted, but you could do this with any fabric. Details on This Simple Burlap Wall Art will have you decorating quickly and inexpensively.
One of my favorite image transfer pieces is this Farmhouse Art with a thrift store frame.
This my absolute favorite Christmas wreath that I have done…ever. It is unique and I just loved it. I used 2 types of fabric for a layered look.
Another Deer Pillow for the holidays
I hope you have been inspired to create something with fabric from my projects through the years. Now it's time to check out what the rest of the team has for you today!
