Family Room {Christmas Tour}

Thanks for sharing!

Welcome to Our Southern Home's Family Room Tour!

Just a simple nativity with fresh cedar greens.

The post on the Angels Rejoice Mantle is up in a previous post.

Fresh Little Gem Magnolia leaves and Leyland Cyprus
were gathered from the yard.

These hurricanes were a clearance purchase at Tuesday Morning a few years back.  I love that they are large enough to accommodate a variety of fillers.  Here I have miniature bulbs.  These are usually found on my dining room table.  Here is a link to my dining room tablescape.

This large coffee table is a favorite piece of mine.  Notice I need to replace a couple of the pulls that have been broken by little hands!  The silver tray was a lovely tarnished find at the thrift store for $2.  I haven't tried to polish it up.  I am liking the aged patina.

The old shutter was also an unexpected $1 thrift store find!  It was the door to an old medicine cabinet.  I simply removed the hinges, cleaned it up and added some felt to the bottom to protect our table.  I see lots of use for this shutter in the near future!  I like the extra layer it provides.

This brass reindeer and sleigh belonged to my husband's parents.  It is simply adorned with holly and greens from the yard.

Can you believe that this Santa was a Big Lots find from years ago!

I am a collector of antique tole trays.  This is one of my favorites.  I also have a collection of rather old Christmas books from my mother and mother-in-law.

Notice that our 10 foot Leyand Cyprus is simply adorned with our collection of precious ornaments from almost 23 years of marriage (23 on December 27th).  I have never decorated a themed tree on our main tree.

My mother was very crafty when we were little.  She made these…..where did she find the time!  She passed them onto me a few years ago.  The detail is just beautiful!  They are an heirloom!

Here is a little up close detail of the Scarecrow from The Wizard of Oz collection.

Here is a view from the balcony above.  Do you see a bit of the kitchen peeking through.  You can find that post here.

The garland is actually a layer of 2 wired together to add fullness.  I changed out the bows this year to a simple burlap bow.

Merry Christmas and thanks so much for stopping by!  There will be quite a few more posts this week before Christmas.

  1. Christy,

Your home looks comfortably elegant. What a great tour! Thank you for sharing. I am so inspired by your wall color. I have been looking for some sort of neutral to paint the walls throughout our home and am a bit over the usual suspects. Do you know what the name is of the paint that’s on your walls? It’s simply gorgeous!

    1. Thanks so very much!!!! It is Tea Leaves by Sherwin Williams!!! I’ll find the number for you. I get frequent requests for it. I’ll post my paint colors soon in my sidebar for easy reference! Thanks again!! ~Christy

  3. Your tree, home and decor is just beautiful. We share a wedding anniversary! 33 years for us this year on December 27th! I know SO many people that got married on this day.

  4. Thanks for sharing your beautiful room! I adore the Wizard of Oz ornaments your Mother made. . .reminds me of my sweet Mother, who I have been missing lots this past week. I have ornaments made by her and a bag of unfinished ornaments that she started…I hope to finish them sometime for my tree. Enjoy your Mother while you have her here…and tell her often how much she means to you..
    Happy Hearts at Christmas!

  5. I echo Shenita’s comment, I LOVE your red tole tray. I have several in black and only 1 red, and yours is much prettier. Your whole room is lovely and I love the fact that you have so many family things. Old Christmas books is another thing I would love to have. So, so pretty. Thanks for sharing Christy
