Farmhouse Coffee Table Makeover
Today is the day……Themed Furniture Makeover Day!
This month's theme is Two Tone.
I'm sharing my Farmhouse Coffee Table Makeover.
It's a simple change that really helped to brighten the rather dark space.
I only painted the base to give this table a fresh new look.
Below you will find all the other two toned furniture projects from my monthly group! Be sure to visit them all!
Here it is in place before I painted it.
Disclaimer: This is a playroom that the kids are in charge of cleaning! It's not the most styled place in the house.
Here is a full before. This is a great table. Back when I was still teaching elementary school, I had a once per week cleaning lady. Such a sweet lady. Her husband loved to do woodworking. She was always asking if he could make me something. One day, I took her up on it. I commissioned him to build me a farmhouse styled coffee table. It is heavy and well-made. The stain is not my favorite, but I love it!
It looks so fresh now!
I painted just the base in a custom mix of Annie Sloan Chalk Paint in Old White with a touch of Pure White.
I applied 3 coats.
I distressed in random areas paying more attention to the edges.
I vacuumed up the sanding dust with the hand-held attachment.
I then applied 1 coat of clear wax and buffed to a slight sheen.
I love it!!!
New furniture is not an option.
It has kind of sparked me wanting to do a few other changes.
The love seat has a denim slipcover. The love seat was my mom's from the early 70s.
I'd love to add a denim cover to the couch and change-up the pillows with some quick envelope pillows.
Crazy how painting a coffee table can create more projects!
Thanks for stopping by! I hope you're inspired!

It’s beautiful! For bottom half, did you use a dark color before applying the white?
The entire table was originally stained the same color. I just painted the base. Thanks!
Hi. Table looks great! What did you use to apply the chalk paint? It looks so smooth. No brush strokes, etc. thank so much 🙂
Gina
I invested in the medium sized Annie Sloan brush last spring. Really makes a difference. Thanks!!!!
Your table looks great! I have one that belonged to my aunt. It’s pretty beat up and in need of a make-over. I love your dark top and white bottom.
Thanks so much! You should give it a try! Have a wonderful weekend. 🙂
Love the makeover, it looks amazing now. Thanks tons for linking to Inspire Me.
Thanks so much, Marty! It was a fun project!
WOW! What a transformation! I’m visiting from Between Naps on the Porch and couldn’t help but check out your farm table! I love the contrast between the dark stained top and white bottom! It looks gorgeous!
Thanks bunches!! We are really loving it. Brightens the room! ~Christy
Amazing! Excellent work you did with those pieces of furniture. You’re truly an inspiration to everyone. From plain looking coffee table into a classy and modern accent, I really like how it turned out. This is a perfect sample of furniture makeovers. I will surely share this one.
Thanks!!
It turned out great.
Thanks so much!!!
It looks gorgeous, Christy! It makes the shape of the legs show up so much better. Definitely a French Country look! Love it.
Thanks so much! Hope you had a great trip!
Christy-this looks so fresh and pretty. Old White is one of my favorite ASCP colors. I use it all the time. Great job!
Beth
Wow what a difference Christy, it brought that table to life! Even the wood grain on the top came back to life with some wax. I love this series and look forward to it each month. You gals are a very talented group!
Wow, it looks great. It’s crazy how projects can snowball just from redoing one thing. 🙂
Anyway, I love how the table looks – it’s the perfect inspiration for my farmhouse dining table…I can see what mine would look like. Hm, now to convince hubby.
Amazing transformation! And what a special gift 🙂 It looks wonderful in that space!
LOVE it Christy! Paint is a DIY girls best friend! ~Sonya
That is a well-built table (lucky you!)… it reminds me of the one we built in class at Haven with Ana White’s plans. You had a great idea to paint the base of it to lighten it up! Love Old White 🙂 Also I love that you still have a “playroom” for your kids – I’m sure they spend a lot of time in there!
Wow! I can’t believe how different your table looks and how bright your space is now!! I love the new look and am chuckling about your new list of projects. You just never know where one little project will lead!
Christy, the coffee table now fits better in your room. Great job. Jeanette
Oh what a difference! It look fresh and beautiful now! The paint instantly updated it! 🙂
Oh my gosh, I love it now! You can so appreciate the lovely legs and that beautiful top with the two tones Christy.
Thanks, Therese!!! Amazing what paint will do!!!
It looks like a completely different piece of furniture with the simple change that you made. I like the paint color that you used for the legs and base and how you distressed it. Great update!
Thanks so much, Paula!! I’m really loving it!
Great update Christy…I love the legs painted white! Pretty vignette too!
Thanks so much, Martina!!!
I love it so much better Christy!! I think it makes the top SHINE now! Doesn’t even look like the same table!
Beautiful!
Nancy
Thanks, Nancy!!! I’m so much happier with it now! Amazing what a little paint will do!
