Holiday Moscow Mule

Thanks for sharing!

New Year's Eve for us is usually at home…..OK…..always at home.

But we like it that way!

I usually whip of some appetizers. The teens have sparkling grape juice, and I enjoy using the celebration as time to try a new cocktail. We settle in and watch a movie and shoot pool.

A few years ago, I had a Moscow Mule in Downtown Greenville, SC. They were so good as I'm usually just a wine drinker.

I've been on this quest to try to make one for quite sometime now. I really just gave up since I could never find Ginger Beer.

Over the summer, I was talking with a bartender, and she told me that I should look for Ginger Beer in your more gourmet stores with the sodas as it's usually non-alcoholic!

Low and behold, I came across some while holiday shopping at Trader Joes.

I came across these Moscow Mule mugs in HomeGoods. They came in sets of 2. Chill your mug first.

No official mug? Just use a pretty cocktail glass.

You will need the following ingredients:

  • Ginger Beer (look in the sodas – Trader Joes)
  • Vodka
  • Cranberry Juice Cocktail with lime
  • fresh limes

Ginger Beer is a lot like Ginger Ale…just a little sweeter.

I filled the cup 1/2 way with crushed ice.

Then add your ingredients:

  • 2 ounces Vodka
  • 8 ounces of Ginger Beer
  • 1/3 cup of the Cranberry Juice Cocktail with lime
  • lime slice to garnish

Give it a stir and enjoy!

You can use regular cranberry cocktail without the lime added. Just squeeze in extra lime juice.

  1. Ha….until reading this, I thought the moscow mule was the mug. probably because we are to busy drinking moonshine out here in the country! 🙂 definitely want to try this drink.. I saw some of these mugs at World market the other day.

  2. So, now I know what to serve in the Moscow Mule mugs that I’m so infatuated with. 😉 Of course… since I’m already a fan of ginger beer… I might have an excuse to get the mugs and enjoy my soda in them. 😉 You always make a wonderful presentation Christie. 🙂 All the best for a wonderful New Year!

  3. Hi Christy what an easy mix and I know it’s delicious. I’ve gotta agree with everyone else on the mules.

I’ve seen these lovely mugs everywhere and I’m really going to have to pik up a quartet for myself.

    Happy new year!

I love hearing from you!
