Most Hilarious Icky Moment

Thanks for sharing!

This is a sponsored post written by me on behalf of Clorox. The icky story and opinions are all mine!

I spent the day looking through old photos…reminiscing! You should do it sometime! It will make you laugh and cry. Whether you are a parent or not, the best part of our lives are those spontaneous, imperfect moments. Those moments where memories are created. Unfortunately, some of these moments are downright icky, but Clorox is here to help you laugh through the mess.

Clorox is hosting the Clorox Ick Awards on Wednesday, April 9 from 6-10 p.m. ET. The #ickies promise to be the messiest virtual awards show ever, featuring real-time comedy inspired by your real-life moments. The Second City Communications who has teamed up with Clorox will be turning tweets into #ickies video skits throughout the awards show. You can help pick the winners by voting for your favorites and win big as they give out $2,500 in prizes.

Both of our teens are very active in sports which always involves a mess. Our daughter plays tennis and soccer and our son plays golf. I have learned along the way to keep a few simple supplies in my car for those icky moments.  I keep the Clorox Disinfecting Wipes in the car for the kids to wipe off their sports shoes after an event. This way they are getting cleaned up a bit before putting them back in the sports bag. It also helps keep the car clean! The stain remover pen is great to pre-treat any spots before they set in!

Going through the photos, I came across the ones from the Wren Flud Run that had me laughing all over again. What's so funny is that it will be held again next month. My daughter and 3 of her friends formed a team. They even made shirts! My daughter is very athletic so she was beyond excited! I stayed with a couple of other parents and we followed along to a few events to watch and laugh! It was one of the funniest things I've ever seen. It's like the one time that it is acceptable to get as dirty as you want….and it's ok!!!

This is before the race started. I remember Ashlyn squinting in the bright sun. It was a beautiful May day for the 2013 event. Of course, I am there with my camera…..I'm always with my camera. Yes, I'm one of those parents.

Mainly wet….not too dirty…yet!

Now we're talking! All of the parents and adults manning the station were laughing hysterically. This was the most unexpected part of the event. I don't hink I ever could have swam under that log! How about you?

Losing a bit of steam here.

I didn't see this part because we had to go a different way to get back to the finish line. So glad I made it back in time to see this. My first thought…..she's going to have to walk home! No way that child is getting in my car!

Luckily they were provided a shower tent. She was still a mess! Thank goodness for the Clorox Stain Remover and Color Booster.

  1. Well, I’m late to the icky story party, but I loved yours! I’m sure there are plenty of icky kid stories I could tell but my personal favorite is with my dogs. I had just finished recovering my patio furniture — you know…the deep seat love seat and matching side chair? I recovered them myself with expensive outdoor fabric and the color was bone — as in off-white (my husband’s fabric choice). Unbeknownst to us, our sprinkler system had a leak on the side of our yard and there was a small puddle forming. Well, our two dogs found it and decided to mud wrestle. They came to the back door looking happy as clams covered from head to tail in chocolate mud. I looked at them and then saw the furniture. It looked as if chocolate had been smeared all over the new bone cushions. And, I mean there was mud EVERYWHERE! I almost started to hyperventilate. I mean, the cushions were literally newly finished — as in just within the last 24 hours. I went to my husband’s study (he works from home) and told him to deal with the dogs because I was about to have a heart attack. He hosed down the dogs while I considered breathing in to a paper bag! OMG!!! Amazingly, the expensive Sunbrella fabric was worth every penny. The mud hosed right off — not a single stain!! New fabric and dogs saved! lol I sure wish I could have seen the humor in the situation at the time because a picture of the dogs and the furniture would have been priceless. I can still see their “smiling” faces while waiting at the door to be let in! haha!

  2. Great pics, oh my goodness! I don’t think I could do that but it’s funny to see someone else getting dirty. 😉 I’ve cleaned up tons of icky messes from trying to get my boys fully potty trained- almost there! Hoping the messes will come a lot less often now….

    1. Thanks, Jen! Oh, yes…the potty training days! Well, we are still potty training a puppy…using lots of wipes to clean up his messes! Next mud run is in May and they are doing it again. I’ll just watch! LOL!! ~Christy

  3. Looks pretty icky for sure, but I’m sure it was fun to throw all caution out the window for a change! Bring lots of towels this time 🙂

  4. Your “thought” was exactly what would come out of my husband’s mouth … there’s no way you’re getting in my car looking like that! Our worst messes have always come from muddy soccer fields. Thankfully even the shoes can be washed now!
I know she had a blast and I bet she’s looking forward to this year’s event. Get the plastic tarp ready … the car will need it 🙂
    Hugs …

    1. Plastic tarp is a great idea! Lol!!! Yes, all too familiar with the muddy soccer fields!!! Thanks for visiting!!! ~Christy

  5. Love it!! I have a few friends who always do the mud runs (and end up not only muddy but bloody too! ick!) and I just smile and say, have fun! 😉 No thanks!! lol All in good fun though! Looks like she made it out ok for the most part…just a “little” dirty. 😉

  6. Tell me something, did you throw her clothes away after she pulled them off ? Our son was in BSA and they went on a day trip and they went Splunking(not sure how to spell it)and when they came home, they had already changed into dry clothes(must have taken them with them..can’t recall now)but bought the muddy clothes home in a plastic trash bag..I remember us laying them out on the lawn and hosing the clay soil off them..son is 48 now and I can’t for the life of me recall if we were able to save those clothes or not. We have so many BSA slides around here somewhere that we might be able to review to give me the answer.

Knowing my husband as panicking as he gets about plumbing problems, we probably threw those clothes away after we hosed the clay/mud off them because he would have been afraid for any left on dirt to clog up the plumbing.

    1. Actually, I did what you did! I hosed them off to get as much mud off before washing in Clorox….shoes and all. I washed them twice! She still wears them to soccer practice. Black shorts helped!!! Happy Spring!!! ~Christy

I love hearing from you!
