No Sew Rooster Kitchen Towel

Thanks for sharing!

Rise and shine friends!

School is starting! Yes, this summer has flown by.

My No-Sew group decided to tackle back to school this year.

I'm sharing a simple No Sew Rooster Kitchen Towel that can be used to wrap my banana bread recipe or goodie of your choice delivered in a pretty basket or gift bag.

You will need the following supplies:

  • smooth decorative kitchen towels
  • graphic
  • computer & ink jet printer
  • iron & ironing board
  • scissors
  • tweezers
  • TAP paper (see below)

I used this (affiliate link) Transfer Artist Paper (TAP) for the first time. I first learned about it from my friend Christy from Confessions of a Serial Do-It-Yourselfer.  It is so easy to use with an iron. It looks painted! I'm so impressed with using it for the first time. It is washable. Just follow the simple instructions for an ink jet printer. It's a little pricey, but if you plan to make gifts or crafts, it is so worth it.

You will also need decorative kitchen towels. They need to be a fairly smooth finish for the image to iron on well and adhere uniformly. Here is a (aff.link) link to vintage kitchen towels on Amazon. Mine was a set of 2 purchased for $5.99 at Tuesday Morning.

Follow the instructions for the TAP paper. I printed 2- 5×7 roosters on one sheet. I printed first on plain copy paper to get the best size for the towel before printing on the paper. I cut them out with sharp scissors so that little white was showing.

My little sidekick follows me everywhere. I washed and ironed the towels first. They had some stubborn creases. Center your cut out rooster upside-down on the towel and follow the instructions on the packaging for your iron. You'll want a pair of tweezers handy to lift up the paper after you have ironed the image while it is still hot. You can tell the image is ready when the backing begins to release from the image.

For my first time using the TAP product, I am very impressed with how simple and fast this project is. Looking forward to making some pillows as well!

Turn it into a special back to school teacher gift by wrapping a yummy baked good in it and placing in a pretty basket or gift bag. Being a former elementary school teacher, I know this would be loved and appreciated!

You can pick up great small baskets at Marshall's/HomeGoods.

Here is up close detail of the rooster. It really looks painted. The transfer material is not thick and stiff looking. That's what makes it look like it is hand-painted on.

This would make a great gift for the following:

  • teacher gift
  • welcome to the neighborhood
  • office Christmas gift (use Christmas graphics)
  • gifts for friends

You can use the same method for many other projects like:

  • tote bags
  • pillows
  • t-shirts
  • bibs
  • onesie
  • napkins
  • runners

PIN this image for later so you can easily find it to complete your project!

Be sure to come back! I'll be sharing my banana bread recipe in an upcoming post!
