No Sew Stars and Stripes Wreath

Thanks for sharing!

Welcome the June edition of No-Sew projects. With Independence Day just around the corner, we decided to go with a patriotic theme. Who doesn't love a little red, white and blue!

I'll be sharing how I made my No-Sew Stars and Stripes Wreath with a pool noodle.

This wreath comes together very quickly. It will be such fun for our 4th of July party at our family beach cottage.

I purchased a few pool noodles at the dollar store back when they first started putting out spring and summer items. I knew they'd get great use.

I had the quilt batting already in the attic. I decided to wrap the pool noodle with strips of it to give it a thicker look.

I purchased 1/2 a yard of each fabric.

The Heat N' Bond is an extra firm fusible interfacing. All it does is gives the fabric a thickness, weight to it so it becomes somewhat stiff. Otherwise, the stars would be too flimsy to use.

You can see the quilted batting. I wrapped it in wide strips around the noodle. I secured it with straight pins.

I then cut roughly 2-1/2 inch strips of the red ticking. I simply wrapped it around the noodle and secured with pins from behind.

I made a set of 3 stars in graduated sizes with Picmonkey. I'll share those in a moment.

Follow the instructions on the interfacing. Then on the wrong side of the fabric, trace the stars and cut out with scissors. I could have done with my Silhouette Cameo, but the cuts are so simple. I just did it the old-fashioned way.No-sew stars and stripes wreath made with a pool noodle by Our Southern Home

Simply print the stars on a full-page of card stock. Cut them out and you have your pattern.

The chalkboard hanging plaque is from Walmart. It's another item that I already had on hand.

See how that interfacing makes the stars stand at attention. They are layered together with hot glue. Hot glue adheres the stars to the wreath.

You can easily change out the chalkboard plaque for other patriotic celebrations!

  1. Such a great idea to use a pool noodle as the base of this wreath. I have done that before but never wrapped it with fiber – that is brilliant. I love the way you also layered the stars. So easy but so much impact. I loved being part of this No Sew Showcase with you. 🙂 xxoo, Barb
