Simple Touches Fall Home Tour
It is now officially fall!
and…..with that I bring you my Simple Touches Fall Home Tour.
Yes, you read that right!
I decided to just add simple, rustic fall touches here and there as if they'd been there all along. I didn't want fussy this year.
Our lives are so busy right now! I wanted simple.
All we need now is a roaring fire!
I am so excited to be apart of this amazing tour. Many thanks to Sonya from At Home with the Barkers and Melissa from Daisy Mae Belle for organizing it!!!
Welcome to our home! This is a new wreath that I just made using materials from an old wreath!!! How's that for using what you have.
That was my goal this year. I wanted to spend little to no money! You can read all about the wreath and see more of the entrance HERE.
The heart of our home in the fall and winter is the kitchen and family room. This is what I'll be sharing with you today! I love my new antique scale. I picked it up in Southport, North Carolina over the summer. It sits atop a tray that I made a few months back. You can find the details on it HERE.
I just love it!
Nothing says fall like the start of apple picking season…….even if these are faux!
We'll be heading to Hendersonville, NC for the day soon to pick some at our favorite orchard, Sky Top!
My favorite part of the kitchen….
I used this same style bunting in the family room as well using upholstery tape.
The cow was a Hobby Lobby find at an extremely deep discount. Poor cow had a broken leg and was shiny brown. I doctored him up with chalky finish paint, wax and a little distressing. He's a keeper!
The tray was a great thrift store find. The little topiaries have tiny pumpkins and gourds nestled around the base. The runner is from Hobby Lobby.
I'm a huge supporter of mixing old with new.
I've been collecting wine corks for years…….
You will find them a common theme in my fall decorating this year. They are a great free filler!
I changed out my regular blue and white china for the more fall tones. I love collecting tole trays. I use them all over.
The wooden bowl was also a thrift store find. Just a couple real pumpkins from Walmart, pine cones from the yard and filled in with wine corks is all it needed.
No need to invest in fall flowers. Just clip branches from the yard. Soon you'll have amazing colored branches to bring inside!
Notice the lovely burlap runner here? I found it for $14.99 at HomeGoods. That was my only major purchase. Since I'll use it all the time in different ways, I really don't consider it a fall purchase.
Here is another little nook at the other end of the kitchen table. I added a few of my everyday cups for some fall color to the bottle tree. The console table was a thrift store find and the first piece that I painted and waxed with Annie Sloan Chalk Paint well over 2-1/2 years ago.
You can find the details on the Farm Fresh Tool Box HERE. It was another chalk paint project.
Let's move on to the family room.
You can see more of the mantel and the how-to for the bunting HERE. Much simpler than years past!
My faux painted Walmart pumpkins from last year. I love using a grapevine wreath as a base. Atop of it is a floral ring. I bought several of these last year along with picks from Hobby Lobby. I used them in all of the vignettes along with wine corks.
This antique dough bowl is usually on the kitchen table. Love it here this year with burlap printed pumpkins. Another Hobby Lobby purchase from last year.
This adorable vintage brass trio of owls belonged to my late mother-in-law. She was an avid owl collector. I have several from her collection.
It took no time at all to throw this look together. I love how rustic and casual it is.
Our fur babies even posed for me.
These ceramic pumpkins came from Dollar Tree last year.
Another chalk painted faux pumpkin vignette. This year I wrapped the stems with twine for a warmer look.
I am loving the rabbit oil here. It used to be on the wall in the kitchen until I hung up our vintage chalkboard menu board.
Bentley turns 10 months this week. I wish you could have seen him with the faux jack-o-lanterns. It was hilarious…..he was in attack mode!
Thanks for stopping by! I'm sure I'll be adding a few more touches here and there. I still have our dining room to decorate and a few things to add on the porch.

You’re home is beautiful and so comfortable feeling. I love all your special touches.
Hugs, Jamie
So much to see and admire and soak in for ideas. love your buffet, how old is that? You really have lots of great pretties, my eyes were all over the place looking at everything.
I’m keeping things simpler and easier this year myself. Just not in mood to make more work for myself when it’s time to put away. I’ve done plenty just in different ways this year. Right now I’m attempting to glue fabric leaves on mason jars to make lanterns. Has taken me all day, glue a little then play on here a more, not going anywhere so taking my time. Want to make a leaf garland to hang from our shutter shelf (faux mantel).
Everything I saw in your home is arranged in wonderful vignettes. love those HL pumpkins wrapped in toile fabric. I saw those last year but talked myself out of them, duh. I wonder sometimes how bloggers have time to do all they do. Guess I did same when young but don’t remember. Was too busy to think about it with 4 kids and working. Enjoy your beautiful home and your wonderful fall décor. Happy days
Oh my goodness, what a beautiful home! Love all your decor, I love mixing old and new too 🙂
Christy, Your home is lovely as always. Bentley must have been a great help! He is so cute. Love your Hobby Lobby cow…I bet it wasn’t very pretty when it was brown.
Christy, Whenever I come to your home to tour it, it is such a treat! You attention to detail is amazing! I love the simple fall touches. That is really the way to go… lots of fall appeal and not as much work! The corks and the covered pumpkins are just adorable.
Beautiful Tour!!! I love all of your fall touches & your pups are adorable! Love your fireplace too! Happy fall! Jen

Beautiful! Beautiful! Beautiful! I love every single thing! Thank you so much for sharing and for inspiring me with some things I may be trying in my kitchen! 🙂
Christy I always love seeing your home. Such great touches. Bentley is such a cutie. My pups are 4 but being in the new house a being outside finally it is like they are babies again. They see all the things they missed when it wasn’t safe at the old house.
Cindy
