Fall Design Trends
Fall is perhaps my favorite season…..I love the changing colors from nature, the sounds of crisp leaves as they crush beneath my feet, the sound and sight of a real wood burning fire and that glorious smell of freshly baked apple pie.
Fall is the start of that time where we can add layer upon layer of cozy, warm color as we hunker in for the upcoming chillier temps….at least in my neck of the woods.
The quickest and easiest way to incorporate the Fall 2014 Pantone colors is through accessories, pillows, flowers and cozy throws.
The addition of this new pillow and throw really helps to make this family room chair come to life. It pulls the colors of Aurora Red, Cognac, Cypress and a lighter variation of Bright Cobalt.
Aluminum used as a neutral works well in any space. The accent color is the Royal Blue, but would be so romantic with the Radiant Orchid. All of the Pantone colors work well with Aluminum as a neutral.
Misted Yellow with the Royal Blue island are dramatic against predominantly white.
I think every Pantone Fall 2014 color possible is represented in this vignette from my Fall Tour! Even our family room walls are a Cypress color….which I love for fall. I could pull any of these Pantone colors from here and add a pop of fresh fall color with a throw in say Cypress or Cognac over our pale Misted Yellow couch.
You can also add color with your window coverings. Love a color…don't be afraid to use it on your windows. Window treats not only give a room a finished look, but also contribute to the energy efficiency of a home. We tend to keep our blinds closed during the very hot days of summer to help keep it cooler. In contrast, we keep them open in the colder months to allow the sun to help heat up our home.
I love the texture of this blind by Hunter Douglas. Our entire house has Silhouette Hunter Douglas blinds. Why did I insist on them 10 years ago? They have the look of a classic wood blind when open, but they have a thin sheer layer that beautifully filters light. They are just so elegant! I enjoy them to this day.
