Decorating with Windows
Folks it's getting closer and closer each and every day………the time that we can really get a lot of use out of our screened porch. It's the hub of our family regularly May-October. We've been having a rather warm and beautiful April, but POLLEN takes control of the porch until about the 2nd week of May. I really don't full force decorate the porches until May.
I did have fun playing around with a little vignette last weekend. You see…..It's Decorating Enthusiasts Home Decor Challenge Day! Not a holiday, but should be. This month's theme was a definite challenge for me.
Decorating with Windows
I've never used windows in my home decor. I've loved the look for years and have pinned them a lot. One of our flip houses last year, had a few leftover old windows that I saved. We replaced the windows in the home. I had forgotten that they were up in the attic!
I have 2 just alike. I used one. It's pretty rough. Nothing really special about this window. Just a window. I cleaned it really well and started to sand it to rough it up a little more. I discovered that with just a little work, I could pry off the trim holding in the glass. Wear safety glasses if doing this. I used a screw driver to pry and scrape it off. Thus the glass was removed. I opted to do this because I discovered that one of the panes was cracked.
I just simply used mine to decorate with. I created this spring vignette with a few things around our home. I spy 4 DIY projects in that vignette!
The mirror is always above this chest. Just prop the window in front of the mirror for a layered look.
I hung the bunny from the window latch.
The window is very rough and naturally distressed. Not sure why it has a thousand nail holes in it.
