Loveseat for the Master Bedroom

Thanks for sharing!

If you follow me on Instagram, you've probably heard me talking about wanting to do some updates to our master bedroom. We've been in our home for almost 13 years! The bedding and window treatments followed us from our previous home so they are about 15 years old. I don't dislike the room, I'll probably save those window treatments. They are Schumacher fabric and custom…..cost a small fortune. Never again will I fever do that.

We have loved them and have gotten our money's worth, but my taste and thoughts on home decor have changed. I prefer to go all neutral. Yes neutral. Then I can easily and more affordably change the look with pillows, throws and a few accessories.

I was asked to share my Beautiful Sofa along with several other Home Decor Bloggers and show my sofa style. You guys have seen my sofas in the family room so I knew that would be a boring post, but we had a new loveseat coming so it was the perfect time to share with you!

Here is what our new loveseat replaced……2 dark green club chairs. They are super comfy, but just not holding up. They are used a lot! We have a flatscreen over our fireplace with surround sound in the room. As a result, this has turned into somewhat of a family den. I know…bad. Yes, we watch TV most nights here as a family. 2 in the chairs and 2 in bed. I prefer bed….more comfy when I fall asleep during a movie.

They chairs were doing great until our Westie, Bentley, entered the picture 3 years ago. Gosh we love that little guy. He uses the chairs to climb into bed and sit on the top to look out the window. The back cushion is attached to the frame. As a result, the back cushion has detached from the backs….leaving a disaster. So the corners are covered with a throw. You can see a little of that in the left chair.

If you notice, the 2 chairs extend out from the sides of the queen rice bed a bit with a table in between. No big deal really because it is a fairly large room.

We've been looking for newer, better quality chairs for a while. It was going to cost $1800+ for 2 new chairs. UGH! Then we got to thinking….what about a loveseat?

That was the solution! Here was our criteria:

  • detached back cushions
  • light, neutral in color,
  • higher back for lounging
  • comfortable fabric
  • no bulky arm so it wouldn't look so overpowering in the room
  • deep seat again for lounging
  • ottoman option
  • fit easily in front of the queen bed

What do you think? We love it. It just came in on Wednesday. I had hoped to go shopping for new pillows and a throw, but I ended up showing houses to a friend. #realtorlife  No time! That's ok. I did what I love best…..shopping my home to decorate.

The blue pillows came with the sofa. They are really beautiful, but not the look I want for this room. The window treatments have blue in them, but again…this combination isn't perfect. The pillows  are 20″ covers with a zipper. This will enable me to purchase other covers to change the look for this room. Can't wait to start looking. I did find a great option from Pottery Barn.

As a matter of fact, I've convinced my hubby that the window treatments need to go! They are coming down this weekend.

The big plan for this room:

  • new white or off-white solid panels for the windows
  • 8×10 rug to define the sitting are of the new couch in front of the fireplace and TV.
  • New Pillows for the bed
  • new pillows for the couch
  • new wall color  (Ashwood by Benjamin Moore)
  • new bedskirt
  • new tablecloth for bedside table

It feels a bit firmer than the one in the showroom, but still comfortable. It is plenty big enough for 2 to sit and have their own space. The ottoman actually goes to a chair and a half, but able to buy separately. It's perfect for 2 to enjoy.

I love the arms. If you notice, they are not super bulky. That won me over on this one. I wanted it to be softer in scale and not so bulky on the sides.

Great fabric. I got that lighter look that I wanted, but without going start white!

I thought that I wanted a skirted look, but this clean look makes it feel more airy. The bun feet are a nice touch.

Faux roses in this spot are perfect with a little westie that frequently jumps on the ottoman.

The large tray easily turns the ottoman into a coffee table. It can easily be removed to really prop your feet up.

    1. Thank you! I’m going to save. Not ready to give them up…too expensive and I still love. I think I’ll rotate them out between the new neutral ones I’m planning on for spring/summer then use these fall/winter. Still planning!
