Plaid Christmas Porch
I am so glad that I have had the last couple of days to work on Christmas. It has helped to take the kids both going back to college Sunday afternoon off my mind. Sunday afternoon was so hard, but they will be back around the 10th. I must say that they were excited when they got home to find that I had pretty much all the holiday completed with the exception of the family tree for the den…..which still isn't up. We do that as a family, and we just ran out of time. We get a real tree. I guess it will wait until they come home.
But I am so excited for today!
This marks the 2nd Annual Christmas Porch Tour hosted by my longtime blogging friend, Amy from Atta Girl Says. Thanks, Amy!!
This is just a 2 day event so not too overwhelming for you to visit all! I promise it will be worth it. All links are at the bottom of the post. I encourage you to PIN any and all photos that you love. You can PIN and share on Facebook by clicking the bars above, below and to the side of the post. It is so very appreciated! Thanks, friends!
Let's get started with our Plaid Christmas Porch! Welcome!
We built our home in 2004 and love it to this day. We are just now starting to have to gradually do some repainting on the exterior and update colors on the interior.
I wasn't going to do the lights on the shrubs, but the very day Ashlyn got home last Monday….she took on the task. That girl is a huge help.
Just changed things up a bit this year with placement, updates to the wreath and the addition of new covers for the pillows. Wait until you hear about those!
The NOEL SIGN was a new project last year. Signs really are quite the simple project. No, you do not need to be an artist.
This is my 3rd season using this tear drop shaped wreath that I purchased from Michaels. I simply updated it with this new oversized tag-like sign and large sleigh bells from Hobby Lobby. Ribbon is the same. It literally took minutes to update. A wreath need not be a DIY ordeal!
Here is a bit of a funny confession. This is the same live tree from my porch last year. I had every intention of planting it, but never did. It lived on the patio and was watered with the other potted plants. Must plant it this year!
I'll be 49 this December (gulp) and this is my childhood sled from living in Virginia. Lots and lots of snow. The set of 3 presents were from Sam's. I love them. They do light up, but they require batteries. I never added batteries. My lantern in the only new purchase for the porch this year and it came from Big Lots. I LOVE it. It even has little faux antlers in it around the faux candle, again requiring batteries. No batteries. I'm fine with that.
That rug is seriously my favorite. I added it last Christmas, and was a great deal on Amazon. You can find it HERE.
Yes, I'm mad for plaid! The plaid blanket covering the table in desperate need of painting is from Kohl's. I think I bought it 2012 when I started the blog. It has held up great for seasonal porch use.
Those plaid pillow?? Check out my post on how I covered 4 for under $20 and NO SEW!
You can also make the Plaid Reindeer Pillow with a form from Hobby Lobby.
I do love my lanterns! This is another DIY Sign….a little more work, but so worth the effort!!
This little snowflake did get batteries! It's even on a timer!
Here is the other side of the porch.
I adore my rockers that I purchased from Kirkland's in the spring. The cushions were a 4-piece set from HomeGoods. The table was a painted thrift store find from a few years ago.
And to conclude the porch tour, here it is at night!
Please PIN the image below and any others above that you love. Also feel free to share on Facebook. It is greatly appreciated!!!

You have a fabulous expansive front porch and you have made the most of it with your beautiful plaid Christmas decorations!
Thanks so much! Merry Christmas!
Christy, your porch is so dreamy! I love all the plaid and your signs. And that nighttime picture is amazing! I’m sure you’re looking forward to having the kids back home for a few weeks.
Your porch is stunning, Christy! I especially loved seeing it lit up at night! I poured over each picture taking in all of the details. I think I saw your lantern at Big Lots. Now I wish I’d bought one after seeing how nice yours looks. My porch has a few Big Lots purchases on it this year as well!
I know it was hard on your Mama heart to take your sweet kids back to college on Sunday. You must be so looking forward to having them both home on the 10th for a long break.
I look forward to seeing more of your decor this Christmas season.
Holy cannoli, this is just gorgeous! I have serious porch envy! We had a great porch at our last house and now a TEENY one. Thanks for sharing this beauty! Pinned!
I can see why you still love it… It’s stunning. I’d spend all day on that porch and never get anything done! Do you look for reasons to be out there? Merry Christmas!
Thanks so very much! Merry Christmas!
Your porch is amazing and extra special at night!
Your home is lovely! So festive and welcoming.
WOW. What an amazing porch to get to decorate. Your home is beautiful. I love all the little holiday details and that garland around the door! Cheers! Kristy
Thanks bunches! Hope you have an amazing holiday!
First of all…. your home is GORGEOUS! Secondly, I love how you added the holidays to your porch. It is stunning! Happy holidays!
Beautiful porch! I am decorating my porch for the first time (we moved in in June) this is our retirement home so I plan on adding bits every year. I love my porch!!! It’s not as deep as yours but I can work with it. My question is what do you use to hang things on the brick? I have stone and brick on front and brick on the back porch but haven’t hung anything ???? it’s driving me crazy!!
It’s tricky. I have a few areas that I’ve picked that I know something will always hang there. My husband has actually drilled anchors into the mortar joints to hang. I can’t remember if it is a special bit and/or anchor. He sin’t home now to ask. I’m sure your Lowes or such could help. I know you can also use damage free brick hanging clips, but the way our brick is done, they didn’t work. I tried them first. Another thing you could also do is you have any woodwork, you could hang a screw and suspend the item from decorative rope? Kind of like how old homes hung art from picture molding. Hope that helps and thanks so much for the sweet comments. Enjoy decorating you porch! Merry Christmas! XO-Christy
What a charming porch! I love all of your festive accents and seeing it with the lights on at night! Happy to be joining you in the tour this year! Pinned! Cecilia @ My Thrift Store Addiction
Thanks so much! happy New Year!
Beautiful! What do you use to hang wreath on the front door? I’m so tired of the wreath hanger and the 3m command hangers fall off… Thanks!
Thanks so much! I always have some sort of wreath on the door so I just have a large nail on it. I know they make some new exterior Command Hooks, but I haven’t tried them. XO Christy
