Pops of Color Create Curb Appeal

Thanks for sharing!

If you've followed my blog for a while, it's no surprise that I adore outdoor living. We picked our house plan for just that. While the back porch is screened, the front is open. A couple of weekends ago, we worked hard to pressure wash and get it ready for prom photos. Unfortunately, I didn't find the time to add pops of color to the front.

You can instantly create curb appeal in the summer months by planting pots with pops of color now.

It's best to get plants started now to really get a jump on growing before the heat of the summer.

Curb appeal need not cost a fortune. I already owned the pots that had been on the back patio. To shake things up a bit, I moved them to the front. Later this week, I'll be sharing how I painted these pots for a fresh look. They are very old and the original finish had seen better days. It's just another way to use what you have and save money.

My journey started with a trip to my local Lowes to plan what would go in my pots. I had already decided which pots I would use before I went. That way I had an idea what I needed to look for.

Today you are just getting a little peek of the porch. I am getting ready to buy some outdoor wicker for the porch, and I can't wait. I'll be sharing more very soon! I usually have the ferns on that top step. My faux topiaries that are on either side of the door have really got age on them. They've seen better days.  I like the ferns by the door. This is the first time that I've actually put color on that top step, and I love the change.

I bought the ferns several weeks ago. Love them by the door.

While I have 2 pots on either side, they are not all matching, but similar in size. The 2 blue/green pots are identical. These are the 2 that I also planted alike.

Blue/Green Pots: All plants are Monrovia in these 4 pots.

  • Callipoe Geranium – plant in back for height
  • White Star Caladium – plant in back for height
  • Sidekick Sweet Potato Vine – plant in front to fill and trail
  • Silver Star Helichrysum – plant in the front to fill and trail

Planting pots with plants that will trail down the front and sides adds such drama!

I still need to plant the existing pots with the boxwood.

I can't wait to see them in a few weeks. They should really be filling the pot nicely by then.
