At the end of this post you will find other creative ways to get organized from my blogging friends.

A bit out of sorts before. Multiple bins that I had to dig through. My teen daughter and I share nail polish.

I unloaded all of the bins and came up with 2 sections…..toss and keep.

I looked online and the recommendation is to keep nail polish only 1-2 years. It starts to lose its smooth consistency. It becomes thick and stringy.

Notice that white bottle of polish….see the separation. I know this one is old. I've got some polish in here I know that is from Ashlyn's 5th grade awards ceremony. It's a bright apple green that matched her sundress. Luckily, it was just painted on her toes. She is in 10th grade now! TOSS!

It felt good to purge about 1/2 of the polish.

Forgive me…..these are probably some of my absolute worst photos! Trying to photograph in the hallway between our bedroom and master bath with no natural light was quite the challenge..one I really didn't overcome.

I ordered (contains affiliate link) 2 black scroll spice racks and hung them one on top of the other. Mounting hardware is included.

Then I began to fill it up. I decided to group the polishes by brand.

The Essie polish (my favorite) will easily fit 2 rows.  You can get a second staggered row behind the others.

I get a long-lasting (a good week) manicure with the following products.

Sally Hansen Instant Cuticle Remover

My new favorite Essie color is Chinchilly. It's a light gray color.

My favorite top coat is Sally Hansen Instant Dry.

My DIY manicure really lasts with these items.

They all look so nice lined up by brand.

You add as many of the racks as you need.

I stored the tools and nail art pens in mason jars on the counter.

My nail station is stored in the laundry closet on the side wall. I'm sure this is not the ideal spot, but I wanted it out-of-the-way. Big improvement! Wouldn't you agree?

I'd love to hear how you store you nail polish. Maybe you are inspired to go organize you polish.

  1. You did an amazing job! I wish my nail polish was half organized as yours! I also wish I could have as much nail polish as you do. Thanks for sharing.

  2. I love this idea. I use to be a nail tech for 16 years and I have tons of polish and just toss them in a plastic shoe container, but I love this idea better. Thanks for sharing and I shared too.

  3. Oh that’s an awesome solution, Christy! Sadly, our mound of polishes look like your before bins, not good 🙁 I think if I could see them all nicely like yours I might take better care of my nails. Not easy with all the DIY, you know how that goes.
    Have a great weekend!

  4. What a difference! I’m jealous of how organized this is and at how many bottles you have! I threw out most of my polish two years ago and haven’t replaced them mostly due to not being able to stand how cluttered mine was, I love the idea of using a spice rack I could hide that behind a door! Awesome job!

  5. What a fabulous idea Christy! Those spice racks are absolutely perfect for your nail polish collection, and a very pretty storage solution too!

  6. Wow! It looks like a nail salon now! I would probably find myself painting my nails a lot more! Good to know too about the 1-2 years rule.

  7. How funny, you and I must have nail polish overload on the brain. I love how yours are organized and thanks for the great tips on how we must purge a few along the way!

  8. Spice racks are perfect for holding polish. I just saw a few at Goodwill and I couldn’t think of an alternate use so I passed them by. I’ll have to remember this great tip for the next time I see one.

I know you are glad to have these things organized. (I’m kind of jealous of your collection….)

I love hearing from you!
