Summer Reading Ideas

Thanks for sharing!

10+ can't put down books perfect for vacation via Our Southern Home #summerreads

I love to read! I enjoy getting lost in a good story…you know the one you just can't put down!

We are at the beach this week. This is when I do most of my reading.

I usually have 2 books going at a time…..1 paperback or hardback book for the beach and 1 Kindle book for my app on the Ipad. I don't want to take my IPad on the beach. Sometimes I end up staying up later than I should in bed reading while on vacation, so I love the IPad for that.

You can click the book image and it will take you straight to Amazon to read about it and get buying info.

I'm going to start by sharing what I'm planning on reading this summer and books I've read you might like!

TO READ

I just got an email from our beach town hall that said it was currently being filmed there (like Safe Haven). So I must add this to my list for the summer. (clickable photo)

This is an espionage thriller. (clickable photo)

I've been a big Mary Kay fan for years. Light and fun read! (clickable photo)

Being from SC, I love her low-country stories set in SC. (Clickable image)

Here are books that I have read that you may enjoy!

1st in the series. A couple buys a Vermont Inn. Things don't go quite as planned. (clickable photo)

2nd in the series! Things move back south! (clickable photo)

OMG! I'm just discovering that there is a 3rd book! Guess this will be on my to read list as well. Love this series! (clickable photo)

Also on OSH!  Outdoor Fabric Updates

This book takes place in Australia. A wife discovers her husband's secret. A little bit of mystery, drama and comedy rolled into one.  (clickable photo)

Another light reading author. Nantucket themed books usually. Great read! (clickable photo)

Murder mystery in a small Mississippi town (clickable photo)

The appeal of this book for me was that the main character of this book moves to Charleston, SC to pursue her dream of painting furniture. It's a bit heart wrenching at times, but a beautiful story. I really hated when it was over! (Clickable Photo)

The list is a bit heavy on the chick lit, but that's what I like in the summer! I read a lot in the summer. The time can easily get away from me, but isn't that what vacation is for! If you have any questions about the books that I've read please ask away!

  1. Love Beth Hoffman. I read Saving Cee Cee Honeycutt this summer and LOVED it! I bought Looking For Me but haven’t read it yet. Also read The Husbands Secret and it was very good but liked What Alice Forgot better.

  2. Fabulous list Christy!! I’ve actually read about 4 or 5 of those you’ve listed here!! 😉 But I am on the lookout for some of the others now! Thanks for sharing!

  3. I have no problem opening the links with Chrome. You can never go wrong with a book by Mary Kay Andrews. I am going to read about a couple more of these and pick them up for my vacation the end of August.

  4. Thanks so much for sharing these books…… I am a voracious reader, like you, and have read some of these authors but it’s always good hearing about their new books. I will save this post and refer to it in the future. Hope you have a lovely vacay at the beach. Vicki in Louisville KY

  5. All of the books look great and I’m adding a couple to my list!

Suggestions from me: The House on Tradd Street (Charleston, ghosts, what could be better?)
Summer in the South (taste of traditional upper crust living in current society in Franklin, TN)

    1. Thanks so much! I’ve read the Housr on Tradd! That was great! I’ll have to check out the other! Love hearing great suggestions. :)~Christy

      1. There are several more in that series, Tradd being the first. I have read quite a few of Karen White’s books and they are all good.
Just found a new series by Ann Charles (Deadwood Series) the first is Nearly Departed in Deadwood. Add ghosts, mystery, a hot researcher, a bumbling real estate saleswoman, and it makes for great fun reading.

        1. Thanks so much, Mary! I can’t wait to try the series! Sounds like fun. I really enjoy series reading! ~Christy

  6. ****FYI: Here is what I see with Chrome:***

    1. Thanks! On the beach with the family right now. I’m going to look more into it when we get back later! ~Christy

  7. Hi Christy, I went to another computer and the pictures of the books don’t show up on either of them. I closed Chrome and went to Internet Explorer and the page looked completely different, with all the books showing and able to click. Strange, because I always use Chrome and have never had a problem with your links before. No worries for me, I will just know that I might have to use a different way. :o)

    1. Technology can be so crazy!!!! I use chrome all the time. Nuts! Thanks for going to the extra effort to open! You’ll have to let me know if you read any! Have a wonderful week! ~Christy

  8. Thanks so much for the book suggestions. I, too, love to read and can’t imagine my life without books. I would give up TV first!

    1. Hey, Heidi! That is very strange. I just tested them on a couple of family member’s devices and they work. Are you clicking the photo cover/picture? That’s what you need to click. Let me know. So sorry for your trouble! 🙂 Christy

  9. Thanks for the reading ideas. I’ve written down your suggestions and can’t wait to read them. I finished Silver Girl last night and read Summer Rental at the beach a few weeks ago. Since I love Vermont, Yankee Doodle Dixie is first on my list!

    1. Janet, sorry you are having trouble. I just tested on several family member’s devices and they work. Just tested on daughter’s laptop with Chrome and they work. You may need to clear you history/cache. Sometimes my computer doesn’t work right when it’s too full. Are you clicking the actual book cover image? That’s what takes you there. Let me know if any of that works! 🙂

I love hearing from you!
