You are in for a holiday treat this week with the yearly Christmas Home Tours hosted by my dear friend, Marty, from A Stroll Thru Life.

You will find the daily link to all of this week's tours at the end of my post. Be sure to check back daily.

I absolutely love this yearly Christmas home tour! There is truly something for everyone. You'll find quite the eclectic mix from neutral decor to traditional holiday colors and everything in between.

If you are visiting from Kim's home, welcome! Shiplap and Shells is such a treat to visit. Her gardens and grounds to the interiors of her cozy home are such a beautiful feast for the eyes.

You will find SHOP THE LOOK sources under each section for that particular room.

Christmas Home Tour

Welcome to our home! I've been blogging since 2012 so it is really fun to go back through old home tours to see how our home has changed from year to year. It is always a challenge to try to decorate differently each and every year.

TIP FOR GETTING A NEW LOOK: Unpack all of your holiday decor in one room with some open space. Then shop your stash to decorate your home. I started doing this years ago, and it's a lot of fun this way. Group like items together.

The Foyer & Entry

Our foyer is open so there is nowhere to place any furniture. I do find the space to squeeze in a foyer tree.

To the right is my husband's study which is his work-from-home office. To the left is the dining room.

Sweet Bentley recently turned 9 years old. He has learned through the years that when I get the camera out that it's time for him to turn on the charm. He works for treats! LOL! He literally follows me from room to room and gets in position on his own.

The Study

I really only share the study once per year on the blog.

It is my husband's work-from-home office. It NEVER looks this put together. There are usually files and stacks of work paper everywhere.

I gave it an excellent deep clean this year even reworking the bookcases. My husband used the time to clean out his workspace. Of course, he still has his stacks. They are just in the other room for now. Ha, ha!

It's been over a week, and it still looks great. The piles are contained to the desk for now.

Bentley frequently sleeps in one of the wing chairs while Max is in here working. Earlier today, Jack was curled up in this chair.

It truly is a cozy room. The chairs are secondhand that I had reupholstered almost 20 years ago. I got them from an ad in the paper.

Most of our Christmas decor comes from trees, garlands, and greenery. I haven't been putting out as many actual decor pieces in recent years.

The Dining Room

We find that we use our dining room quite frequently these days. The more casual table and the heirloom armoire from my husband's grandparent's homestead add to its charm. Both of the kids were married in July and September. In August, we started having lunches here at 1:30 after church. It has been a fabulous way to bring everyone together. I highly recommend adding the tradition if you haven't already. Depending on the number that we have, we either eat here or in the kitchen.

The white Christmas Village was a recent thrift store makeover.

I added the curtain lights at Christmas a few years ago, and we love them. They are a nice nightlight in the evenings. They have a remote timer which is convenient.

The Kitchen

I've been keeping the island fairly simple during the holidays so there is plenty of space to set up entertaining boards like this.

Here is a similar breakfast board using this tray that I used in the family room.

Layer napkins on the board for added color and pattern.

I recently ordered this round tray and love it. I keep it here all the time for decor but use it for entertaining as well like for this Bloody Mary tray.

The Family Room

The tree right here is always fresh. This is our family tree with our collected ornaments. This year I added tinsel to the tree for the first time ever. We are enjoying the extra sparkle and nostalgic feel.

I have many more photos of each room, so I plan to do individual posts on each room with more up-close detail.

The rug in the family room is very dark and heavy in pattern. As a result, I have opted to go more neutral with the Christmas decor.

I love the calming feel that it gives me with the neutrals, greens, and a little blue.

I have seen villages used in china cabinets, secretaries, and bookcases. This year I decided to give it a go, and it's my favorite way to display it yet!

  1. I love how cozy your home is, and the fact that you have a live tree in the living room! Does it shed a lot? I’m thinking about getting a live one this year, but I just had my carpets cleaned and don’t want to make a huge mess!

    1. Thank you so very much! Yes they can shed, but the trick is to buy it super fresh and to keep it watered. When you purchase do the branch test. Run you hand through it and minimal needles should come off.
