Christmas Porch
Merry Christmas friends and cheerful greetings!
I am so pleased to be participating in the
Welcome Home Christmas Tour
Decorating for Christmas is such a labor of love…..
you know everyone moaning about having to help drag Mom's gazillion boxes from the attic,
muttering words under your breath when half the strand of lights won't work,
swearing you'll never put up that garland again,
and oh the mess from all the unpacking…..
But in the end…..you love what you and your family have worked to help decorate.
The memories created….you know the ones to cherish and laugh about later.
It makes it all worth it!
I could not think of a more fitting way to participate in the tour than to welcome you all with our front porch.
It sets the tone for what is to come. It shows your friends and family your love of the Christmas season.
Unless we have company, it's only seen by us or the deer that graze the front yard at night.
We live in the country. Today YOU are my guest…..Welcome
The porch has had various holiday
changes through the years, but I think this year is my favorite.
The garland is the same. I just added a few more pine cones collected from our woods and changed the ribbon from red velvet to upholstery tape and plaid. I'm using plaids and the upholstery tape/webbing throughout the house this year. It's the element that I'm using to tie everything together.
I've had these faux boxwood topiaries from Ballard Designs for years. They have been perfect for the seasons. The “L” wreath is also from Ballard with added greenery and ribbon. It has always been inside. This is the first time that it has been on the front door.
Upholstery tape is so inexpensive. I purchased 20 yards for less than $20.
It's bulky to work with as a garland, but I found a way! I used twine to tie it off about every 15 inches. This gave it a gathered look and easier to manipulate around the archway.
Faux apples around the base add a cheerful pop of green.
Multiple ribbons were used to make the bow. I already had the pick with the green apple. Works great with the green apples around the topiaries.
The only thing purchased new for the porch this year was the ribbon.
I'm so happy you stopped by. Be sure to subscribe so you won't miss any of my upcoming holiday posts.
You can follow the behind the scenes on Instagram. I'm also pinning lots of holiday inspiration. I'd love for you to follow on Pinterest as well.
