Vintage Wall Art {mini gallery wall}

Thanks for sharing!

I have a love of vintage art…..on the cheap affordable!  I find that a great source for vintage oils is from EBay.  I must confess that I do not like to get outbid.  It can be a struggle sometimes knowing when to give up.  LOL!!!  I scored these from 3 different sellers.  Including shipping, I paid about $42.  Really look at all of the pictures the seller posts and fully read the description so you will be aware of any imperfections.  Ask questions if unsure.  Most are happy to help.  Also, pay attention to shipping!  Sometimes it can be a killer(the shipping) and I just have to pass.

The one on the bottom is probably in the worst shape.  It was coming out of the frame a bit.  It is actually a tiny bit too small for the frame.  I just used a little painters tape on the back to secure it in the frame along with the tiny nails holding it in place.  I am very pleased with this score!!!

I laid them all out on the floor and played with the arrangement a bit.

I placed sticky notes of the same size between the frames to get a quick uniform distance.  Then I measured the entire height of the art to determine where I wanted to place it on the wall.  I marked the wall and got started.

I used this handy dandy Hang & Level tool that I ordered from Amazon.  I’ll post a link at the end of the post for it.  You simply hang the picture from the hook, hold it up to where you want it , and push the attached poker on its backside into the wall.  This makes the mark for your picture hanger.  Easy, peasy!!!

I am quite pleased with the colors and style in our foyer.

I really struggle with natural lighting in our house on the bottom floor.  Both the front and back have deep, covered porches which shades the inside.

A little heads up!  I am in the process of making the move to WordPress.  It will be a couple of weeks, but wanted you to know.  Everything will move and things will look a bit different.  I am very excited!  My logo will stay the same.  All of the ways that you can follow will stay the same and move with me except for my GFC (Google Friends Connect)!  I’ve been quite sad about that.  If you follow that way, I’d love for you to go on and sign up for email posts so you never miss a post.  I’d love to stay in contact!  I also use Linky, BlogLovin, and Google+  as well as other social media.

  1. Beautiful. I love a collection with history and you chose a great place to display them! Thanks so much for sharing. Must.shop.ebay. lol I always forget about it!

  2. Beautiful and timeless. I love all the old vintage oils and the feel they can give a space. Your scored some beauties for $42..good for you! They look wonderful grouped together.

  3. I really think it looks great-and I had never thought of getting oil paintings off of eBay. I love the picture hanger. We have these three black and white pictures that I love of the girls at the beach when they were little that I had blown up. Of course I didn’t want to pay a lot for framing, so I bought some frames from Hobby Lobby. I picked the frames because I liked the way they looked. I never even bothered to look at how they hang since I don’t do that part anyway. Turns out they are very difficult to hang-two screw holes on the vertical sides-and they aren’t totally parallel. So, a series of three very large pictures taking up most of one wall of the dining room that all have to be evenly spaced at even heights and level…I think this tool will help tremendously when we go back home-I was already dreading that event!

I love hearing from you!
