I have been a busy bee….painting furniture, crafting and decorating for spring along with the daily life of a mom and wife! I love every minute of it though!

I finally finished my Easter tablescape for the kitchen table today.  I'll be sharing the complete table the next week.

You know I love grain sack stripes. I wanted to something a little different for the kitchen table so I created this Chalky Painted Grain Sack Table Runner Board.

It really took no time to complete the runner!

I purchased a 1x12x6 foot board from Lowe's. I had several projects in mind so I just went home with the board to cut myself. Lowe's will cut the board for you with your desired lengths. I just cut mine with a hand saw. I didn't feel like going to the workshop for the power tools. I cut this board to 24 inches.  This will vary for you. I just figured the length for my table, marked the board and cut. I lightly sanded the board and dusted it off before painting.

I painted the base coat of the board with 2 coats of Annie Sloan Chalk Paint in Old White. I let that dry thoroughly before taping off my middle stripe. The middle stripe is 1-3/4 inch wide. I painted the stripes with a sample that I was given of Powder River Paint in Baby Doe Pink. It really is a pretty shade of pink. You could easily do this project with household paints or craft paints.  I painted 3 quick coats of the pink letting it dry thoroughly between coats. Remove the tape immediately. Once completely dry, you can add the tape for the rest of the pattern.

Lots of mufti-tasking going on in the background.  I measured over 1/2 inch from the edge of the center stripe and started taping off my 1/4 inch stripes. This is not a huge piece. Once you get your initial measurement, use the center as a guide and just place the tape.

Again, 3 quick coats of the pink and immediately remove the tape. Pull it up at an angle. Don't just pull straight off. This helps the paint stay in place. This is mainly an issue with latex. I've never had an issue with paint peeling up with chalky finishes.

Painting done. I applied 1 coat of clear wax and buffed slightly. I didn't distress.

Sorry about the little flecks here and there. On the centerpiece, I used a few moss rocks from Dollar Tree, and they really shed! I thought I got them all.

The entire board was around $13.  So this part cost around $4.50. Not bad for a new addition to a spring table. I'll even use this during Valentine's Day I'm sure. My daughter's room has pink so it may find a spot up there!

Yesterday, I completed a simple tablescape for the kitchen dining area. I'll be sharing it next week.

Have a wonderful weekend!!

I know this is a stupid question but I don’t understand why it is called Grain Sack runner? Wouldn’t you stand a chance of scratching your table top with that board on top? My brain is only seeing one pro for this, you can pick the display up all in one piece.

Grain sack is the vintage pattern of old grain sacks. Have you never used felt pads on the bottom of things to protect furniture? I use them everywhere! My final tablescape also sits on a linen table runner as well. Have a lovely weekend! ~Christy

Good morning! Another gorgeous day before the rain Good morning! Another gorgeous day before the rain and cold creep back in. The weather is a big tease around here! A tip & a question! Please read below...help a girl out!

🌸 Do yourself a favor, when you go to the grocery store....pick up some fresh flowers. They are inexpensive and instantly brighten your day. Change out the water every couple of days and most will last a week. Cut a little off the stems as well.

👁 I recently had an eye appointment. My doc wrote a prescription for me to get progressive readers. Folks, She said that I need 2.5s! I’m in a 1.75. It’s such a pain. Here’s my question. I can no longer pluck my eyebrows with my magnifying mirror! 🤣 The 52 struggle is real! What’s a girl to do? Become Bert or go to the salon. I don’t wax because it’s too irritating. @ashlyn_little offered to pluck them! 🤣 Anyone else in the same boat?

I have not been this excited about the weekend sin I have not been this excited about the weekend since last weekend! Ha, ha! Happy Friday! No big plans here, but I’m still trying to dress up for a date night in on the weekend. We’ve been eating a lot in the dining room lately.
