Easy Entertaining Cheese Board

We have been totally embracing the empty nest this year. I'll admit that it was a bit tough at first. Our day-to-day centered around our family and the kids' activities. 

Now that they are both in college, we are finding that it can be quite easy to entertain simply.

After 28 years of marriage, I've learned quite a few things. For one, if you make entertaining too complicated and serious….you won't do it!

Simple Entertaining Ideas

• Easy Cheese Tray
• You prepare the main dish and have your guests bring the sides
• Take out
• Appetizers
• Desserts only
• Prepare a new dish! You and your guests have fun preparing together!

My favorite thing to do is a quick Easy Entertaining Cheese Board!

I keep veggies like these freshly cut in the fridge for snacking so these were all prepared. Add a little humus and you are covered. Our local grocery store has an amazing assortment of cheeses and meats appropriate for cheese and crackers. I didn't have to prepare anything for this board!

My favorite cheese is goat cheese. Just simply drizzle with a little honey or peppered jelly. Add your favorite crackers and you've got a wonderful presentation. 

My best friend in the kitchen is Bounty Select-A-Size towels. They truly are the “Quicker Picker Upper.” I prefer the select-a-size format which really makes tackling smaller jobs easier with less waste. 

I keep Bounty close at hand for not only cleaning, but for prep work while cooking in the kitchen.

I use Bounty in the kitchen for……

• drying produce
• quick cooking cleanups
• spoon rest
• entertaining
• grilling
• and more!

Here I am using Bounty Select-A-Size to dry my washed grapes. They are truly highly absorbent. 

I love serving this in the summer especially. It's hot so you aren't heating up the kitchen and you are enjoying your company. Add a dessert, and I promise your guests will be satisfied. 

Aren't these little cheese mice adorable and whimsical! I found them in a gourmet kitchen shop traveling. They are made for cheese trays. 

I prefer to keep cheese tray entertaining to inviting 1 to 2 couples. Serve it somewhere cozy like in your family room or porch. A coffee table is perfect for spreading things out. Have some nice music playing in the background and enjoy your company in a cozy conversation spot. 

This type of entertaining is perfect for just catching up or for a game night such as charades!

Use your fine china salad plates and real cloth napkins for a touch of casual elegance.

Serve up your beverage of choice on a pretty tray to contain any spills or condensation.

Keep things casual and carefree. Set an example for your guests that entertaining as empty nesters need not mean a formal sit down dinner! I bet you will find that you see those friends more often!
