French Country Stool Makeover
It's hard to believe that is already time for another round of Themed Furniture Makeover Day!
This month's theme is “Animals.”
I imagine we will see lots of creativity this month.
I am sharing my French Country Farmhouse Stool Makeover.
We just returned home from our last beach vacation of summer. I picked this adorable little stool up while thrifting there. I kind of chuckled when I looked at the price tag….$7 as is. I've never seen “as is” at the thrift store. Isn't that kind of expected.
I simply removed the top and set it aside.
The base received 2 coats of (affiliate link) Everlasting by American Decor Chalky Finish Paints.
I lightly distressed the edges of the base. I then applied two coats of Minwax Weathered Oak stain wiping off with a paper towel with each coat. It gave it a very slightly aged look.
I then applied a coat of American Decor Matte Varnish once the stain was dry.
I had a leftover piece of drop cloth that I used for the fabric.
Those little dots are rain drops! A storm was coming. It was too dark inside so I flew outside before the downpour hit to photograph!
This graphic came from The Graphics Fairy. It is free!
If you follow the instructions for my transfer method found HERE, you'll want to print the REVERSE.

You'll need Transfer Artist Paper. You can get a 5 pack HERE or 18 pack HERE. This stuff is so easy to use!
Just staple the fabric to the underside. Light distressing was all that was needed.
Be sure to pin the above image for later! Thanks! 🙂
Be sure to check out the other “animal” themed projects below.
I’d love for you to follow along on social media!

Christy, what a sweet transformation. So many would have passed up on the little stool. You gave it a new life!
You did such a great job on the transfer, it looks like you got the fabric that way! Such a cute piece now!
It’s adorable – night and day between the before and after!
Love sheep and the graphic you chose to upholster the stool with. Simple and sweet! :o)
