Here are the goodies I received from Alice who blogs at  Thoughts from Alice.  I got 4 pretty cool Asian coasters, 4 cottage look cabinet knobs and what I'm calling a pestle. We collect mortar & pestles and that's what it looks like. Thanks, Alice! I love my haul. 🙂

It looks great in my wooden  mortar & pestle! See why I didn't want to turn it into something else!

Ta da! Now I have these adorable and unique Jewelry Hangers!

Here's the 411 on how I did it. So easy peasy!  {contains affiliate links}

You will need:

  • coasters
  • cabinet knobs
  • paint or spray paint
  • sealer
  • paint brush
  • E6000 glue

What to do:

  • I cleaned the coasters and painted them with 3 coats of Annie Sloan Chalk Paint in Chateau Gray. I used a wide flat artist brush. It made it easier to paint the detail
  • Once dry. I sprayed them with 2 coats of spray poly in a satin finish.
  • Clean the cabinet knobs and let them dry.
  • Apply E6000 glue/adhesive to the ends of each according to the directions and affix in the center of the coaster. Let set up and dry. I left it until the next day.
  • They are now ready to hang.

I love the unique eclectic look of the shape of the coasters.

Make sure you buy the clear E6000 glue. That way if any seeps out, it will be clear and not very noticeable.

Embarrassing moment! I've had that tie rack holding my jewelry for about 8 years. Needless to say that with the rise in popularity of costume jewelry, my collection has grown. It looks so disorganized and junky. There is a lot, but my teen daughter and I share. It's about the only thing we can share if you get my drift.

This is one of those times when one project leads to another. That tie rack will be coming down and a peg board wall will be going up soon. Planning it out now. I will have the newly made hangers just like this though to the side to hang a few favorite pieces.

A closet is not conducive for photography. I got in some odd positions in between the clothes trying to get a shot. This is in the doorway so that's why it was so tough. I gave up! Took them down and set them up in the family room to give you a better look.

I purchased Command strips to hang these with. We had company so in a mad rush to straighten up, I put them in a safe place for later. Unfortunately, I can't remember where that safe place is! Story of my life I tell you.

I was not happy when time to install. What's a DIY girl to do? I grabbed my handy-dandy museum putty and put a wad behind each including the vintage oil art. It's temporary. I would not recommend using it for permanence. Hopefully one day soon I'll come across my Command strips! Please tell me that I'm not the only one that does this!

Here is what I sent to Katrina from Chic Little House. Kind of hated parting with those oval frames. I can't wait to see what Katrina comes up with. Click on over to see what she did HERE.

  4. Oh my goodness Christy you are a creative genius! When I chose these items even my husband was like, “Do you know what you would do with them?” umm nope 😉 I think he felt bad I was sending them to you! I am glad you were able to come up with something cool for them…I NEVER would have thought to put them together! And that wooden thing, I had no idea what that was but thought it might be something like what you described 😉 Will pin and share!
