Christmas decorations are all put away!

The house is clean although I'm sure I'll be vacuuming Fraser Fir needles for months to come. They seem to appear out of nowhere.

I love that fresh, clean look that comes after several months of nonstop holiday decorating. It's nice to have a breather and refresh your nest…moving things around and organizing.

I am so excited to be participating with 24 other bloggers in The Scoops Creating A Cozy Home Tour. The entire schedule is below with a BLINDS.com GIVEAWAY!

I've never really decorated for winter, but was up for the challenge! I didn't spend a dime to create my winter mantel.

Creating a Cozy Winter Mantel with Our Southern Home

Mantels are such an easy part of the home to decorate for seasonal changes or just to decorate on a whim! I encourage you to challenge yourself and create a new look. Start by shopping your own home. That's what I did here.

Creating a cozy winter family room with Our Southern Home

I knew that I wanted to use a newly painted thrift store chalkboard. The green in the frame blends well with the landscape painting.

I took an old glass cylinder from a craft store and filled it with 2 boxes of Epson Salt from the potting shed. We use it on ferns in the summer. The salts mimic snow. I then cut twigs from the woods and arranged them in the cylinder. I cut and trimmed them along the way to lean more towards the center of the mantel.

Don't laugh all of you seasoned Silhouette Cameo users, but I created my first cutting  project with these snowflakes cut with white card-stock. I am so excited to learn to do more with it!  I just hung the snowflakes on the branches. Now, I have a simple snowflake tree.

The white “snow balls” were created with extra Styrofoam balls from other projects. I wrapped them with leftover white fluffy yarn from a baby blanket knitting project. The pine cones are simply from the woods.

The writing on the chalkboard is freehand.  I sat in front of the computer and used a picture on Pinterest for inspiration.

I finished the left side off with a couple of faux books wrapped in burlap, mercury glass candle holders and a small white pitcher of dried hydrangeas from the summer garden.

We are very much home bodies. Our favorite thing to do on the weekends together as a family is to curl up in here by the wood burning fire and watch shows on the DVR or movies. The kids love to make S'mores for us all. Home is where family memories are created, and I'd rather be here than anywhere else.

That is strange, Lorraine! So sorry for your problems. I appreciate you letting me know. What browser are you using? I sometimes have that issue when visiting sites and it means my cache is full. Have you tried clearing/deleting cache/history? let me know!!! That usually works for me. I’m not seeing any blog problems. ~Christy

Happy Friday! I hope you've had a great week. 🌷 Happy Friday! I hope you've had a great week. 🌷 I've been a bit absent this week with my squares, but I've been painting again. Y'all know all that molding and trim that I've been tackling. It's so time-consuming but has a big reward. Fresh paint works wonders in a space. We've got a beautiful weekend ahead here in the south. Hoping to enjoy a little time in the yard before the pollen starts setting in.

AD: Call me quirky, but I love a great grocery sto AD: Call me quirky, but I love a great grocery store. I could explore forever. Ashlyn and I enjoy cooking together so shopping for our favorite steak taco night dinner was the perfect opportunity to visit our new @foodlion in the Greenville, SC area. We are no stranger to Food Lion! We shop there when in NC while visiting our family beach cottage. The extra fresh produce and meats section always blows us away. Food Lion prides itself on keeping prices low and passes savings to its customers. Be sure to sign up for an MVP card in-store & online. Swipe to see more + our yummy dinner! Good morning! Another gorgeous day before the rain Good morning! Another gorgeous day before the rain and cold creep back in. The weather is a big tease around here! A tip & a question! Please read below...help a girl out!

🌸 Do yourself a favor, when you go to the grocery store....pick up some fresh flowers. They are inexpensive and instantly brighten your day. Change out the water every couple of days and most will last a week. Cut a little off the stems as well.

👁 I recently had an eye appointment. My doc wrote a prescription for me to get progressive readers. Folks, She said that I need 2.5s! I’m in a 1.75. It’s such a pain. Here’s my question. I can no longer pluck my eyebrows with my magnifying mirror! 🤣 The 52 struggle is real! What’s a girl to do? Become Bert or go to the salon. I don’t wax because it’s too irritating. @ashlyn_little offered to pluck them! 🤣 Anyone else in the same boat?

Favorite @lovechicos look! My So Slimming Girlfriend jeans are on sale! Today is also the last day of their first-ever warehouse sale!

Curious? Do you make your bed daily? We do! We usu Curious? Do you make your bed daily? We do! We usually have a last one out rule. I just can’t walk in the bedroom with an unmade bed. My dresser may have a pile of folded laundry for a couple of days, but that bed is made! That Amazon blanket is linked in stories. It’s soooo good!

This is perhaps my favorite look for our master bedroom! Soft toile, linen and leopard print bedding and blankets are so cozy! http://liketk.it/3953P #liketkit @liketoknow.it #StayHomeWithLTK #LTKstyletip @liketoknow.it.home

I have not been this excited about the weekend sin I have not been this excited about the weekend since last weekend! Ha, ha! Happy Friday! No big plans here, but I’m still trying to dress up for a date night in on the weekend. We’ve been eating a lot in the dining room lately. It’s a cozy space with the twinkle lights that I don’t have the heart
to take down. It’s like feeling like we are in an actual restaurant opposed to the daily meals at the kitchen table. Just that little extra effort makes a difference. #ad

Been watching the news before cooking dinner and e Been watching the news before cooking dinner and enjoying a glass of wine. It’s heartbreaking seeing what’s going on in Texas. The people, the animals....I pray that everyone finds warmth, food and water tonight. It makes me look ahead to warmer days and carefree times of summer. This photo was last summer....I’m ready for outdoor weather. 🙏
