There is something timeless about a French 75. Light, sparkling, and just a little celebratory, it’s the kind of cocktail that instantly feels special. During the holidays, I love giving this classic a seasonal twist with homemade cranberry simple syrup. The result is a beautiful blush-colored cocktail that feels right at home beside twinkling lights, a glowing tree, and a cozy Christmas story.

This Holiday French 75 is simple to make, easy to prep ahead, and perfect for entertaining—or for sipping quietly while soaking in the magic of the season. If making ahead a batch, add all ingredients to a mason jar except the prosecco. Refrigerate and add 2 ounces to a shaker per glass, then top with Prosecco.

Cranberry Simple Syrup

  • 1 cup fresh or frozen cranberries
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup water

Instructions

  • Add the gin, lemon juice, and cranberry simple syrup to a cocktail shaker filled with ice.
  • Shake until well chilled.
  • Strain into a champagne flute or coupe glass.
  • Top with chilled champagne or prosecco.
  • Garnish with a lemon twist and a sprig of rosemary or a few sugared cranberries for a festive finish.

Cranberry Simple Syrup

  • Combine cranberries, sugar, and water in a small saucepan.
  • Bring to a gentle boil, then reduce heat and simmer for 10–15 minutes, until the cranberries burst and the syrup turns a deep ruby color.
  • Remove from heat and allow to cool slightly.
  • Strain out the solids and pour the syrup into a jar or bottle.
  • Refrigerate for up to two weeks.

The cranberry simple syrup adds just the right amount of tartness and color without overpowering the classic elegance of a French 75. It’s a cocktail that feels festive but not fussy—perfect for Christmas Eve, holiday gatherings, or a quiet winter evening at home.
