Spring in the Kitchen

As the weather outside starts to warm, why not bring a little springtime into your kitchen? With some simple and easy decorating ideas, you can make your kitchen look fresh and inviting! We'll share our top tips on how to incorporate soft colors like pastels, texture, and patterns for a fresh look.

Soft Colors Like Pastels

A great way to give your kitchen a cheery feel is by adding soft and pastel colors. I really love the neutral walls in our home from soft white to shades of soft gray and creamy beige. Having neutral walls and furnishings allows me to easily decorate for the seasons with different colors.

Spring is the perfect time for me to add a soft touch to our home with colors like soft pinks and blues.

Flowers

Adding flowers is an excellent way to give any room a spring-like feeling! Whether you are using fresh flowers or faux, it's a great way to incorporate a spring touch.

I had every intention of adding these faux cheery blossoms to our mantel. I tried them first here on the island and knew that their new home was right here.

I do love to use fresh flowers in this spot on the island. I will start using more fresh as our flowers in the beds start to produce this spring and summer.

Faux flowers look so great these days and it does make life easier. Sometimes easy is nice! Honestly, nothing beats a fresh bouquet.

Rabbits & Easter Eggs

Easter decorations are perfect for bringing extra cheer into your kitchen this spring! I have quite the bunny collection these days. Most of mine do not scream Easter, so I use several through the summer months. We live in the country so it is pretty common to see rabbits in our yard and woods so these are a little homage to them.

This year, I have used a few Easter eggs in a dough bowl. Mixed with the blue and white porcelain balls, they take on a classic feel.

After the Easter holiday, I will remove the eggs and add more moss to the porcelain balls.

I don't always have sweets under the dome…thankfully! Ha, ha! This pair of bunnies looks sweet.

I picked up these adorable napkin rings last Saturday at HomeGoods. Aren't they precious?

Texture & Pattern with Placemats & Runners

Another great way to spruce up your kitchen is by incorporating texture and pattern with placemats, napkins, and runners.

I use this tapestry runner every chance I get! It was a fabulous HomeGoods find a couple of years ago. It is perfect for spring with shades of pink and blue.

Blue & White Decor Pieces

Another classic combination that works well in any seasonal decor style is blue & white pieces.

Whether you opt for porcelain vases or delicate china plates, adding these elements will instantly bring a sense of calmness into the room while still adding interest through color contrast.

Blue and white china and porcelain work with all seasons. It's particularly sweet in spring with softer colors. These floral plates were a fun thrift store find last summer while at the beach.

Minimal On Counters

For a fresh look, I am keeping things minimal on our kitchen island for an effortless look this season! Our new island counters are only two weeks old, so I am celebrating the new look by keeping the look simple. It's so easy to keep the island clean with just the corner vignette.

It allows us more prep space. After almost 20 years of dark granite, I love the white empty space. Going minimal makes the space feel much larger.

Springtime is a great time of year to spruce up your kitchen with some fun decorative touches! From adding pastel colors to incorporating texture & pattern with placemats or runners, there are plenty of ways you can bring some seasonal flair into your home without breaking the bank. I always start by shopping my home. The only new spring items this year are the rabbit napkin rings, faux cherry blossoms, and carved wooden eggs (40% off at Hobby Lobby). With these tips in mind, we hope you'll be able to enjoy all that spring has to offer while decorating your home to enhance both comfort and beauty this season! Happy Decorating!
