Spring Master Bedroom

Thanks for sharing!

Spring updates in our master bedroom were simple with the addition of 2 new pillows, swapping out rugs, other pillows, and a new coverlet.

I like to thank Vicki and Jenn from 2 Bees in a Pod for organizing this Spring Bedroom Tour!

If you are hopping over from Cindy at DIY Beautify, welcome! I am so happy to have you visit.

At the end of the post, you will find links to all 6 bedrooms on the tour as well as a “SHOP THE LOOK” section.

Our master bedroom is still a work in progress in terms of painting. The wall color was changed almost 2 years ago to Ashwood by Benjamin Moore. We absolutely love the color in here. It is a very soft gray with green undertones that works nicely with all colors.

Master Bedroom

I still have to update the trim color in here from the cream to Simply White. It has been an extremely daunting task that I have been doing throughout our home over the last couple of years. It's honestly a never-ending project.

Master Bedroom

I have figured out that it's just best for me to work on it in sections. One room at a time is just too overwhelming with everything else in a household.

Master Bedroom

Yes, I could pay someone to do it, but we've never been one to hire help if we could do it ourselves. We clean our own home and do our own yard work. I'd love to hire a housekeeper and a painter! LOL! BUT I'd rather spend that money on new pillows! Ha, ha!

Pillows are one thing that you can change up easily and affordably.

I love using pillow covers because they are so much easier to store.

If you start out with neutral basics then the sky is the limit with your decor changes.

My new pillows are my very first Pottery Barn pillows and will not be my last. They are made so very well and are on the larger size at 22 inches. I highly recommend getting their recommended pillow inserts. I haven't had any feathers coming out. Honestly, the price is not bad either. I knew that these pillows would also work well in our family room so it's worth it to me to make a splurge on items that work in multiple rooms.

Master Bedroom

I recently got a new rug in our family room and moved the den rug into the master. The blues and creams really look fabulous in here for spring and summer. I can see this rug staying in here for a while.

Master Bedroom

We spend a lot of time in this room in the evening on the couch. This is where the two of us primarily watch TV each evening.

Even with the kids are home, we watch TV in here. Two of us in the bed and the other two on the couch (same loveseat, but different color). It's been a tradition since we moved in back almost 17 years ago.

We had surround sound incorporated into this room so it's a great TV viewing experience. The TV is certainly done for a smart TV upgrade, but it still works!

Master Bedroom

Layered, cozy pillows like this and this make the bed feel casual and comfortable.

Master Bedroom

I just purchased this new, white coverlet last week (linked similar). Our old one was at least 15 years old and needed to be replaced.

I love using coverlets. We don't sleep with it at night. We fold it down to the foot of our bed.

Underneath it is a down blanket (similar- Mine is Northern Nights from QVC- we've had for years and love)), not a comforter. It's the perfect weight for year-round comfort. I'm very cold natured so I add this blanket over the top of me just at night.

TIP: I always purchase king coverlets for our queen beds. They may seem big at first, but they all tend to shrink a bit with the first wash.

Master Bedroom

I'd love to upgrade to a king bed, but my husband isn't quite on board with that yet. If Ashlyn isn't here, Bentley sleeps with us and so does our cat, Jack. It's something that we said we'd never allow, but here we are!

We are contemplating adding a new Westie to the family late summer, so that will have to be a consideration. Bentley is 7. He is Ashlyn's dog and would love to add a 2nd while both kids are still at home. I guess we are afraid that Ashlyn will be moving out eventually since she graduates in December from college. Both kids will graduate together. We know that she will take Bentley with her if her living arrangements are adequate. I guess my husband is afraid we will be left with nothing if both kids leave and take the dog. LOL! Empty nest syndrome for sure.

Master Bedroom

I've been considering painting our dresser just to break up the set a bit. One of these days.

On a side note, this sound machine is a must-have for me to sleep soundly. I'm a light sleeper and this drowns out noise for me. I have had it for years. My first one died, and I bought a new one last year. It is so small that I even travel with it.

We are enjoying the new touches to the master bedroom. This look will carry us forward many months. I don't do crazy seasonal changes in our master, but it is fun swapping pillows.

  1. Hi Christy, I’m redoing my Master and so many of my furniture pieces are similar to yours. I know you said you are updating your trim with Simply White, is that the color on your walls as well? I was planning to do a feature wall in Evergreen Fog (Sherwin Williams) but looking at your ceiling is giving me second thoughts to put that color on the ceiling instead. What color is that on yours? Thank you – I look forward to your weekly posts!

Always fun hopping with you.
