5 Minute Christmas Pillow
This spring I purchased outdoor wicker rockers for the front porch and new pillows. The pillows weren't exactly fall material, but with white pumpkins….they worked! There was just no way that I was going to pull off aqua and pink pillows for a traditional Christmas porch.
I did not NEED another pillow in the house. i wan't about top invest in Christmas pillows for the porch. Pillow storage is becoming an issue.
I decided that I'd fake a Christmas pillow and you can, too!

Here is my spring and summer look. Not going to work for Christmas.
I went to Hobby Lobby and got lucky. They had their fall fabrics 40% off so I picked up 5 yards of this plaid flannel. I ended up having about 3/4 a yard leftover. I was pretty generous on the fabric per pillow so 4 yards would have been plenty. I always go with more is better when cutting fabric.
You basically follow the steps of wrapping a gift. Safety pins are your tape!
I used large safety pins to grab more fabric. The Fiskars Fabric Scissors are seriously the best.
Naturally the pinned part faces the back. Our porch chairs aren't used this time of the year so this is mainly for looks. I think they'll be fine if actually used. Not sure I'd use on a couch with heavy use, but an occasional chair would be fine.
I actually found this piece of red fabric in my attic stashed. It was enough to cover 1 pillow. I love mixing plaids and that is what this year's Christmas porch is all about. You'll be able to see it all next week in my porch tour.
I love how they turned out! For less that $20 I was able to completely change the porch's look and feel for the holiday.
This is pillow is from several years back from Target.
My porch is quite deep and protected from the weather. I would not use this flannel fabric if exposed to the elements.
It blends great with my stag pillow I made for the porch a few years ago. You can find it HERE.

Great idea. I love making my simple foldover flap pillows which require only short straight lines–well, kinda straight. None of this setting in a zipper, Velcro, or making buttonholes stuff! I have been known to use beach towels, unused afghans, and blankets for the pillow stuffings–I just have to remember (or write down) where those things have gone!
Thanks so much! Love your ideas!!!!
