10 Easy Spring Decor Ideas to Refresh Your Home

Thanks for sharing!

Here are 10 easy spring decor ideas to refresh your home as we welcome warmer weather with this new season after a long winter.

Latest from OSH

Welcome to the latest spring home tour hosted by my dear friend, Marty. If you aren't familiar with Marty, you must check out her blog, A Stroll Thru Life.

Are you visiting from Whispering Pines? If not, be sure to check Anita's spring home. Her southern home is a vintage treasure. It will have you longing for the mountains.

In the south, spring is starting to show its true colors! The birds are chirping. Flowering shrubs and trees are covered with buds.

We can still have a frost through April 15. Fingers crossed that nothing severe hits the new growth.

Like a lot of the other seasons, I have scaled back on my seasonal decor. I prefer to add a nod to the season with naturally occurring decor. I do very little true Easter decor anymore with the kids all gone.

We do have our first grandbaby due on March 31st this year so who knows what I may do in the future for holidays.

I've put together 10 simple ideas to add touches of spring to your home with photo examples as to how I accomplished the look.

Be sure to read to the very end where you will find the complete tour list for the week.

Spring Wreath

Nothing says my home is ready for spring than the first impression at the front door.

The front door wreath is the focal point of entering your home. It's the first thing that grabs your guest's attention as they walk to ring the bell.

I'm not sure what it is about spring, but I love creating a fresh wreath for the season,

I've had an interior nesting vibe since September with warmer, richer decor. I'm so ready for the softer pastel colors that the spring season ushers in.

Faux flowers are always best for a wreath and nothing says spring like a basket of tulips.

You can read all about my new spring wreath HERE. It's a very simple project. Plus the basket will work throughout the year by simply changing out the flowers. You'll find the complete supply list HERE.

Sometimes it's the little things that get us excited about a new season. All it took was creating this new basket wreath to get me ready for spring.

Bedding and Towels

I'm not sure about you, but I've long gone away from completely changing out all bedding for the seasons. It's too expensive plus I no longer care to store the excess.

As I go through life, I want less to fuss about.

One of the easiest ways to freshen up a bedroom is with pillow covers. I'm all about simple ways to make a house feel like a home.

I like to leave the heavier duvet cover on the bed because it works so well in the room, but I add a simple lightweight coverlet. It makes a room feel cozy with the layered look.

I fell in love with the red pillow a couple of years ago and ordered it from Pottery Barn. Evidently, it was popular because it was on backorder. I did eventually receive it, but it was never restocked. I will say that Pottery Barn has amazing pillow covers and is well worth the money.

While our days are getting warmer, the nights can be a bit chilly. Guests can easily pull up the duvet if needed.

Cordless Lamp | Guest Towels

A quick refresh in the bath is new towels. I've had white towels in this bath for a while. I simply added these pretty spring green hand towels from HomeGoods. They brightened up the space.

Do you notice the little cordless lamp? It is fabulous. You charge it with a USB cable and you can use it anywhere!

I added these little paper guest towels for a recent shower that I hosted.

Table Linens

I've packed away the darker, heavier table runners and napkins that I frequently used in the winter months.

I've opted for 2 tapestry table runners for the kitchen table and the dining room table. The pink one is on the formal dining table and the blue one is on the kitchen table.

Below you will find the more formal dining room.

The creamy white napkins with the edging detail are a whimsical touch for spring.

Table runners are not just for dining tables.

I also like to use table runners on this cabinet which acts like a foyer table for us since our foyer is open on all sides. It's an easy way to brighten up a darker piece of furniture for spring.

Dishes

I adore our white formal bone china. We didn't get formal china when we got married all those years ago. My hubby gave me this bone china 20 years ago over a couple of years for gifts. We use it frequently.

I firmly believe in using the good stuff as much as you can. I love the pattern we picked out. It goes with everything.

The crystal glassware was my parent's wedding crystal and is 60 years old. We use it for special occasions. The gold is starting to wear around the rims. It is so pretty.

The thrift store can be your friend when selecting salad plates for use as accent pieces. The pretty floral salad plates were a set of 8 that I scored a few years ago at the thrift store.

The pink depression glass plates were my grandmother's given to me by my mom.

Pillow Covers

Rarely do I ever buy home decor pillows these days. Storage can be an issue for most. I dream of having a pillow and decor storage room, but that's completely out of the question.

I can easily store pillow covers. I've created quite a collection through the years.

New pillows or covers can change the look of a room and give it a fresh look.

Pattern Pillow Covers | Velvet Covers

Our living room rug has so many fabulous colors to draw from. I've used many through the years, but right now I love the calming look of this muted patterned pillow cover and soft caramel velvet pillow.

Opt for lighter fabrics like linen and cotton. You can do like I did and use the velvet, but just in a softer color. My dark green velvet colors are folded away in the cabinet until next fall.

6

Candles and Lights

I like to change out my candles in the spring. I pack away the mercury glass and bring out my wicker candles. Mercury glass is always a staple in my winter decor. Wicker or cane candle holders are a beautiful way to welcome early spring.

I'll be changing all the smart bulb timers on my lamps soon with the time change. We will be gaining more natural light and less lamp light time. My hubby will be ecstatic over this. He claims the high power bills are all my lamp's fault. Ha, ha! They all have energy-efficient LED bulbs and supposedly only cost pennies to use. I'm team Lamp Light, how about you?

Another great way to add new life to a lamp is to give it a little freshening up like I did this recent thrift store purchase. Sometimes a new shade is all it takes, but this one has a few extra subtle tweaks.

Throw Blankets

Now is the time for warmer weather so pack away the faux fur and heavier throw blankets. Opt for softer cotton, lighter-weight varieties.

In most cases, mine are just to give a bit of texture and color to our living space.

I'm one of those people who always has to have some sort of blanket when reading and watching TV. Call it my security blanket if you wish.

Blue and White Decor

Blue and white porcelain and chinoiserie have been in fashion for many years. They are having a resurgence which I love. I have found a few pieces at the thrift store as well as vintage and antique shops. I have even found a few at Dollar General! HomeGoods and Amazon are excellent sources for newer varieties.

If you have been wanting to add touches of blue and white to your decor, spring is a great time.

I have touches of blue in white in almost each of our rooms from the fireplace mantel to our kitchen island.

Blue and white is classic and works with fresh and faux flowers. It's a great way to add a touch of spring.

Flowers and Plants

One of my favorite spring home decor ideas is to add flowers. I use a combination of both.

For now, I am still using our faux magnolia stems on the mantel. We have Little Gem magnolias in our yard so even though these are faux, it feels like a touch of home in here. I typically do all faux on the family room mantel. It's a tall mantel and just too much trouble to change out. It's also the reason that I've opted to use all battery-operated candles on the mantel in recent years.

It's hard to believe that this is a faux citrus tree. It's the perfect size for a small area. I've had the oriental blue and white pot for many years. I wish I had bought more at Belk years ago. They are so pricey now. They do take a plant to the next level.

Your local grocery store is your friend when it comes to real flowers in your home.

My favorite spot for real flowers is Trader Joe's, Sam's Club, and Costco.

Whether it be the real deal or faux, beautiful spring flowers are sure to lift the mood after a long winter.

Excuse the poor photo here. It was late in the day when I took this and I had to turn on the overhead lighting. It's a great example of faux flowers and the real roses at the end of the island. They are still hanging in there after being a week and a half old.

Fresh greenery from your yard like from bushes that are budding is lovely in a tall vase. I used more roses here on the wet bar in a thrift store container.

Real plants are always a nice touch. Be sure to place a decorative plate under your pot for any drips. Ask me how I know this!

Bunnies

Last, but surely not least is my favorite spring accessory, bunnies.

I try to not purchase ones that scream Easter. I have a couple. I like the ones that work in our home through the summer. We have lots of rabbits in our woods so it's nice use them in our home.

They are such a sweet addition to smaller vignettes, on mantels, and even in tablescapes.
