Beautiful Bedrooms Tour- The Master
When I was asked to join the Beautiful Bedrooms Tour, it got me thinking……I haven't shared much about our master bedroom. I did share it at Christmas.
It's not an easy room to photograph maybe that is why.
Regardless, welcome to the amazing tour!!!
I thought a lot about our bedroom, and we spend a lot of time in there as empty nesters. We watch TV in there most evenings on the loveseat in front of the bed.
We both work from home and many blog posts have been written on that loveseat.
Bentley welcome you to what he affectionately refers to as “HIS” room. Yes, he has pretty much taken over in here since both of the kids are in college. He used to sleep upstairs with Ashlyn. Now it is in between us or wherever he wants. We are even considering upgrading to a king-sized bed just for him.
How do you say no to that face? He is my grandpup after all!
Our master used to me darker in terms of bedding and curtains so I've been gradually refreshing things. It might be easier that you think!
Here it was before! Dark and dated…..but at least I used a white matelasse. I've always used them and they are just so versatile.
Here is what I did to create a simple update.
- First of all, we got a new loveseat and gave the chairs to a medical student friend. That was the most expensive item.
- The bedskirt is the same as the striped bolster pillow fabric. Removed the bedskirt. No skirt at this time.
- Changed out the heavy, custom window treatments for white Ikea panels.
- New throw pillows
- New euro shams from Etsy
- swapped oil painting over the bed for one in the family room
- added a small rug from my home staging stash in front of the loveseat (I'm also a realtor and do staging consults)
Do you notice the subtle change in oil paintings? It works so much better with the new toile euro shams. What a difference white panels make.
The buffalo check shams are also from Ikea. It has a matching duvet cover, but too much trouble keeping straight with the pup. He tried to dig and nest it in. It was comfy!
I do hope to repaint the room soon. I've got to finish a small bath remodel first. Toiles are my favorite pattern and I think I will love this one a long time.
The beauty of the white matelasse, curtains and neutral loveseat is that I now have the ability to change the look simply with pillows!
It's such a cozy spot in front of the fireplace to watch TV.
Right now we have the French door opened up to the screened porch.
The ottoman easily slides out of the way and is the perfect spot to do yoga. I've been doing a 30 Day Yoga challenge on Youtube and I love it!
I like to keep this mantel fairly simple. Otherwise, it gets too busy and cluttered looking with the TV and the highboy around the corner.
Trays used on ottomans are perfect because you can easily remove them to prop up your feet!
I've contemplated painting the bottom part of the dresser and leaving the top stained. So far the hubby isn't on board so I think painting the room will make me happy.
So many of our treasures, we've had for years! This little jewelry dish was a thrift store find that I painted. Blends nicely to create a vintage vignette.
Throughout our home, I mix high-end with vintage, antiques, thrift store finds and budget decor from places like HomeGoods, Hobby Lobby, Kirklands and more! I love a collected look.
This little box on my husband's side of the bed was a thrift store makeover. I still need to sew a new skirt for this round table.
This is my side of the bed! Can you tell that I am more high maintenance with moisturizers, essential oil diffuser for lavender and my noise machine that makes a fan noise. I even travel with that little noise machine. It is amazing and has different fan noises and volume control. Best thing I've ever bought!
Thanks so much for dropping by to visit! Be sure to check out the rest of the tour!

Just came across your blog, love your style, so classy
where did you find your bed coverlet, is it white or off white?
Love your Bedroom!
thank you
It is white from Belk. I just checked and it’s still available. It’s such a great sale price right now. I have a queen bed and bought a king to allow for shrinkage. They usually shrink a bit. Glad for the king. Here is my affiliate link. White Coverlet
I love the rug…Can you tell me where you got it and the exact name PLEASE and Thank You—I really Love your room !!!!
Thanks so much! It came from At Home Stores. It was $150 for an 8×10. Here is the link: https://www.athome.com/d452-shaydon-grey-multi-woven-area-rug-8×10/124283604.html
Just as I was about to ask for the name of the paint color you used for your bedroom I saw that you had repainted it and have no info on it. Next I clicked & saw that you have painted it in BM Ashwood Gray! I used that color when our bedroom was painted last spring. It was not the color I had sampled but I have to say that I LOVE it and have received many compliments. My bedding and furniture are all in shades of driftwood, pale linen, and very soft pastel accents. Even the carpenters & plumbers wanted to know the color of the walls. Your previous color is just the neutral beige I am looking for (in vain) for another room. If you should stumble across your old paint color would you please share? It would be very much appreciated.
This room is too gorgeous! Your bed is just incredible, and I love the cushions you have used!
Thanks so much!!!
Great post!
Thanks for sharing!

Lovely bedroom. Do you recall the name type of the IKEA curtains? There are so many to choose from-it’s a bit overwhelming but I love the look of yours! Thanks so much
Thanks! They are the Ritva from Ikea.

I came across your blog when I was searching for houses built with the Abberley Lane Plans ! I love the updates you did with your room! Looks so bright and airy and timeless: I was wondering is your bed a king size bed? We are wanting to build using the same plans in the future and I am trying to get an idea of the size of room. Thank you!
So sorry, but just seeing this. Thanks so much! Our bed is a queen, but the room could accomodate a king.
Hi Christy! I just fell upon your lovely blog via Pinterest and I so impressed! I think I saved almost every bedroom photo you offered! Thank you for such lovely ideas; so fresh and exhilarating! Beautiful room!!
Where do you find the matelasse’? I have purchased a couple that don’t look too great after they are washed a few times.
Many thanks for any info!
Blessings,
J
I used to get from Linen Source, but I believe they are out of business now. I now find them at a great price at HomeGoods and Tuesday Morning!
The vignette above your bed is perfection. I just love it!!!

Who wouldn’t love a beautiful bedroom like yours. You are so fortunate to have both the space and the ability to afford such luxury. It is truly amazing without being pretentious.
So many beautiful photos! It’s hard to choose a favorite part of your bedroom, but I’m going to have to say that those toile pillows are to die for! Master bedrooms don’t get shared very often but it’s so fun to look at them. Great job!!
Such a beautiful room. Love all the pretty accessories! I can’t believe those buffalo check sham are from Ikea! I’m definitely going to hunt some of those down! 🙂
