This month's Pinterest Challenge is so pretty for spring. You may find that you already own things to recreate the look. I had 2 of the birdhouse and the smallest was purchased new and unfinished.
Welcome to another installment of our monthly Pinterest Challenges hosted by my sweet friend, Cindy, from County Road 407.
This month for our Pinterest Challenge, we are recreating this lovely spring tablescape centerpiece created by Hymns and Verses. Be sure to give the blog a visit. I love this idea! I created my own look using similar elements.
If you are visiting from Decor to Adore, welcome! Laura's home and decor projects are always stunning. I always leave inspired.
My Takeaway of the Elements Used
- Birdhouse as the focal point (I used 3 smaller ones)
- Basket Tray
- Round Element (I used a spring plate)
- Bird's nest (I used 2)
- Floral Fillers
- Blue Mason jar
It's been a while since Bentley has made a blog appearance. He welcomes you to today's fun Pinterest challenge.
I didn't have a birdhouse that I could use so I purchased 3 from Hobby Lobby. I came home with those and Ashlyn reminded me that we had 2 in the potting shed that she and her brother had painted one summer when they were in elementary school.
They were a rainbow of colors, and being sentimental than I am…I didn't want to touch them.
Ashlyn set me straight and insisted on using what we had. She said I had too many childhood mementos and these could be used. The 2 larger houses were the original ones that they painted. I kept one of the smaller houses from Hobby Lobby.
I pulled out 2 of my thrift store candlesticks that I painted white a few years ago. I used those to elevate 2 of the birdhouses.
I used this white paint and this blue paint on the birdhouse. Actually, Ashlyn painted all 3 of these for me. I requested that she haphazardly paint them so they didn't look pristine.
The blue on the houses really brings out the blues in the china and that runner. You can see more of the dining room in this recent tour.
I love creating centerpieces in baskets because you can easily move them around. I could also use this on the island in the kitchen, a console table and even the coffee table!
Up next on the tour is my friend, Cindy, from DIY Beautify. Be sure to hop on over there for a visit.
2020 Favorite Decor Upcycles
Favorites from the Thrift Store Decor Team from 2020!
This is one of my personal favorites from the blog. I haven't done a lot of furniture makeovers recently, and this was fun to do. I love the price and how it turned out. The stained top is my favorite part!
The spray paint used in this post is my favorite for any project that involves painting a ceramic or porcelain. The finish is amazing and durable. Hard to believe this used to be red! It's front and center in the kitchen now.
This angel was beautiful regardless, but the new white look with subtle gold accents works so much better with my decor.
One of the favorites that I didn't even do for the blog! My daughter and her boyfriend completed this sign over the summer for her college apartment (that she isn't even living in.....covid....classes online so she stayed home, but still have to pay for the apartment....insert eye roll))
I love furniture makeovers and adore how this one turned out! You don't even have to go to the thrift store for this. Maybe you have a piece that you already own crying for a little paint.
Picture frames are plentiful at the thrift store. They make an amazing makeover! This one really turned out great and so versatile in creating a look to go with your home.
A driftwood finish is not just for coastal decor. It works with so many styles. This finish is absolutely lovely on these candlesticks but would work on furniture and mirrors as well.
Anything with flowers is a positive to me. They can instantly elevate a room and your mood. Add a bit of a birch bark look and you've got a winner!
Old windows have so many uses! One of my favorites is to turn those into wall art!
I use trays all the time in our home. They are great for creating vignettes!
I love how you used the trio of birdhouses and the DIY candleholders to get them to different heights! I love that you added in the plate too! All so pretty! Love the colors!
I love how you used 3 birdhouses Christy, and the blue paint color is beautiful! You really did a wonderful job! And it’s so nice to see Bentley!
Thanks, Kim! Bentley is such a ham for the camera!
Aww, I love that you used the kids’ birdhouses! The three houses look so perfect together! I’m loving that cabinet in the background, too. Such a pretty dining area.
Thanks so much, Crissy! So glad to repurposes those little birdhouses. Yes, we are overjoyed with the armoire!
Love your twist on the inspiration Christy! Three is better than one, right?! Love the whole look of your spring centerpiece right down to the pretty with plate with flowers. Pinning of course!

Wow, Christy… your twist is perfection! I can totally see the inspo photo in your lovey bird house centerpiece. Perfect for spring! Pinned!
Thanks so much, Julie! It was a fun one this month for sure!
Your daughter is so sweet and talented. And I love how our kids tend to “set us straight” about things. LOL. And I would have never thought to use a candlestick. Why that’s just genius! It’s all gorgeous! Thank you so much for joining in. I always adore what you do!
Thanks so much, Cindy! I just love our monthly posts!!! You keep our creativity flowing!
Really sweet, Christy!!! It was nice of your daughter to help paint or actually repaint the two birdhouses and the new one for you… She’s a keeper! 🙂 I miss having my daughter living at home as she and I would do all kinds of crafty things together. Bentley looks like he enjoyed being part of the party! Really sweet birdhouse vignette and I like that you used your candlesticks to raise the two up.
Enjoy your pretty home and happy springtime to you,
Barb 🙂
Thanks, Barb! My husband just asked me what I was going to do when she left home! I don’t even want to think ahead!
I love that you used 3 birdhouses, Christy, and especially that 2 of them were sentimental. It all turned out so pretty!
Thanks so much, Lora! So glad Ashlyn remembered them because I totally forgot!
Ashlyn is the best blog helper ever! It’s great that she thought of the two birdhouses in your potting shed and then painted all three for you. Your centerpiece looks beautiful and it’s perfect to enjoy all spring and summer.
Thanks so much, Paula! She’s a keeper! So loved having her home the last year! She’s so talented!
