Saturdays on the Porch

Hi, sweet friends! I hope you've had an amazing week. I haven't blogged much at all this week. When I jump back into painting the house, I struggle with doing it all. Painting literally steals all my energy.

I'm going to finish one section of painting this weekend, then taking a break from it because I have a lot of upcoming posts to work on!

Coming Soon on the blog!

  • Organized Fridge
  • Thrift Store Makeover Day

smocked top

You know that I have a love affair with blue and white.

Fit Tip: I typically wear a small or a medium in blouses and sweaters. I'm glad that I read the reviews on this one. Since it is smocked, it draws more attention to the bust line. It's flowy around the midsection creating a bit of a flounce. This is forgiving in the belly area. The medium is perfect. The sleeves are a tad long, but ok since they gather. I really love the fullness of the sleeve. It's a great weight for now through the spring. I'll probably wear through April here in the south.  Target really has great, affordable pieces.

When I saw my local blogging friend, Kristen, share this top on her Instagram……I had to have it. It's so sweet and romantic. It's perfectly spring. Kristen and I are about the same age and she shares fabulous modest attire. Please go check out her blog The Scarlet Lily.

You can read all about my DIY Manicure HERE in the first post in this series. This week's colors are Step 1 Cream of the Crop | Step 2.

Cream of the Crop is a very pale, neutral color. It's more iridescent. I have to paint 3 coats of it. It is not opaque. It's a great color for me when I have a lot of work around the house to complete where I'm going to be a bit rough on my nails. It's very forgiving if my nails get chipped a bit. I think it would also be great for travel for this reason as well.

This week's lip color (pretty much every day!) L'oreal I Decide.

ballet flats

I bought these inexpensive ballet flats from Amazon back in 2019 and still love them. I have them in neutral brown color as well as black suede. They have some new colors coming out that aren't available. I keep checking for them. They are inexpensive but have held up well for me. They are comfy right out of the Amazon bag. No break-in period of blisters.

Fit Tip: I typically wear an 8, but size up to 8.5 in these per the reviews. They don't slip.

blue and white blouse

I had MOHS surgery on my cheek back in late August to remove skin cancer. It was quite a scare. It's healing well, but the surgeon told me that it would be a good 2 years before it looks better. I really dislike having to cover it up with makeup. It still has a good bit of redness and puffiness. I've been massaging it with my fingers and a jade roller as well as applying Mederma. I am about out of that tube so thinking of trying this one that a friend recommended. Do you have anything that you recommend?

Mood Board Inspiration

Each Saturday, I plan to create a new mood board for you. If you have one you'd like for me to create, please let me know. This week, I've created a look for a spring front door. This could actually carry you through summer. You may already have similar elements to create a look of your own.

Yellow Wreath | Faux Topiary | Urns | Blue Rug | Welcome Mat | Garden Bunny | Chinoiserie Garden Stool | Outdoor Lantern

This is a very similar look to my front door. Layered looks are so popular right now, and I think here to stay. Outdoor rugs can be so affordable. The above link goes to Boutique Rugs which always has great sales.

It appears that the price for my topiaries has permanently dropped. They are now $99 which is a huge difference from that $170 that we paid.

This is really a look that could span many seasons by just changing your wreath and garden statue.

What I'm Watching

We just finished Lupin on Netflix. They've divided the first season into 2 parts. I believe the second part will be released this summer. We really enjoyed it. It follows a man from his early years up through adult years. His father was wrongly convicted and he is seeking to unearth the truth. It's action-packed and very good. It is French so make sure you change the subtitles to English. It is very well dubbed.

I just finished Ginny & Georgia on Netflix on my own. It's a rated R Gilmore Girls (somewhat). I found it fun and really enjoyed it.

I am currently watching Behind Her Eyes on Netflix. It's about a girl that spent time in a psychiatric hospital. She is out and married now. Her husband is a doctor. He is having an affair with a girl in the office. Well, that crazy woman has now befriended her husband's lover. Oh, my!

Instagram Favorites

Each week I'll share favorite photos and accounts from Instagram.

January 21, 2021, was the last color of my hair. I'm getting a little antsy as you can tell in the photo above that the gray around my temples is coming through. I'm going to give it a go and see. I may go back to color, but going to try.

I hope you have a fabulous weekend! Next weekend…..I'll be adding a fun mood board to the Saturdays on the Porch where I'll be giving one look for affordable design inspiration.

    1. Thanks, Jennifer! I do not know the color. It was a stock photo from the graphic design software that I use.

I love hearing from you!
