Hey friends! I’m so excited to invite you along for a little summer stroll around the front of our home. Today I’m sharing our Southern front porch and garden tour, filled with classic curb appeal, flower beds in full bloom, and timeless chinoiserie accents on our covered porch. While nothing is new or drastically changed, this space always feels fresh thanks to the charm of Southern style, layered greenery, and the relaxed vibe of summer. If you love traditional porch decor, hydrangeas, and a touch of blue and white, I think you’ll feel right at home!

The Exterior & Gardens

Our home’s exterior plays such a big role in creating that classic Southern welcome. During the summer months, everything comes to life—from the blooming hydrangeas to the layered flower beds and fresh greenery. While we haven’t made any major changes, it’s always a joy to see how the landscape fills in and frames our home. Simple touches like trimmed boxwoods, seasonal planters, and traditional urns help maintain that timeless curb appeal.

While the shrubbery is manicured and leans more formal, the addition of the hydrangeas along the walkway is relaxed and makes me smile every single day.

The two beds on either side of the walkway are still a work in progress. There is still a decent amount of open space. I think we plan to fill it in with azaleas this fall. Last year, I changed the ph level of the hydrangeas to make them blue. It was fun to see that happen. It's honestly too much work. I opted not to do that this year.

I am opting for less work with our landscape. I'll show you what I mean.

coneflower along the drive

This bed is quite large! The center is filled with azaleas. Along the outside border, I've been adding perennials.

Perennials can be your best friend. None of the coneflowers and blackeyed Susans were purchased for the front bed! I divided the ones from the backyard and transplanted them here.

The purple coneflower just started blooming this week!

blackeyed Susans

The blackeyed Susans won't be blooming until July. They are so pretty.

They do spread, so give plenty of room for planting.

I have planted them in large clusters. This gives more impact. Also in this bed, not in bloom, are peonies and lavender.

You can see how loaded they are with blooms!

lantana

One surprise was this lantana. Lantana is an annual in our area. This variety was purchased about 8 years ago from a farmer's market. We were told that variety is usually a perennial. Lo and behold, it is! It gets so big each year. The birds, bees, and butterflies love it!

Back to my babies……the hydrangeas.

teak bench

Teak benches are set to mirror the other side of the front patio. These pots have seen many changes through the years, from taller shrubs to spilling over with flowers.

Hurricane Helene killed the shrubs in these pots. Many of our shrubs were also killed along the driveway. We had about 40 large trees downed in our woods from the storm. We are still working to have that cleaned up. It's beyond expensive.

We replaced these pots this spring with a boxwood that is appropriate for containers in our area. So far, they are doing well. I don't plan to underplant them with flowers to spill along the sides. I plan to let these fill the pots as they spread out and just be large, beautiful spheres. Less is more these days in the garden for me.

Timeless Southern Front Porch

Our covered front porch is truly the heart of our home’s exterior. It’s where classic Southern style meets comfort, and it’s one of my favorite spots to style each season. For summer, I keep things timeless with a mix of blue and white chinoiserie, garden stools, layered pillows, and a few vintage finds that add charm without feeling fussy. Even though this space stays mostly the same, it always feels fresh thanks to the greenery, soft textures, and the way it all ties into the rest of our outdoor spaces.

As for the front of the porch, symmetry plays a part in the actual porch.

This is the second year of going all faux on the front porch! Don't knock it until you try it.

There is no maintenance, less to worry about when traveling, no mess, and it looks fabulous.

rocking chairs and chinoiserie

I store out-of-season ferns and flowers in the attic. They are on the porch from May to early October.

It is all so realistic. The ferns are massive hanging baskets. I have them on Amazon plant stands. I just tucked in the jute hanging basket part.

chinoiserie garden stool

A pair of chinoiserie garden stools makes a nice drink table. They are easy to move around and give a timeless touch to the front porch.

ginger jar

On the porch, I like to keep things simple yet impactful by incorporating larger decor pieces, like this oversized ginger jar. Statement items like this add visual weight and elegance without making the space feel cluttered. I love how a single bold piece can anchor a seating area or add a touch of timeless charm to a corner. It’s an easy way to make the porch feel stylish and intentional while remaining relaxed and inviting for summer.

Plus, it's easier to keep things clean.

rocking chairs

Since the porch is covered, I've added some Amazon outdoor pillow covers that fit over older, faded pillows. The quality is lower, but this is the second season with these pillows. I used similar colors on the back porches. This enables me to shop our home to create different looks for the seasons.

As you can see, the rocking chair sections are symmetrical on either side of the front door.
