Pumpkin Spice Cupcakes + More

Thanks for sharing!

It's time for Home & Decor Encore with my creative blogging friends. We've got some great projects for you below that we've pulled from the archives.

Hi, sweet friends! I can't believe that it's already Friday again. I've been a bit MIA this week from posting and being active on social.

On a personal note…….

About a month ago, I went to the dermatologist about a spot on my face that I've had for probably 10 years. I always categorized it as a pimple that just wouldn't go away. I was wrong. Monday I had to have Mohs surgery to have it removed on my check. It was a basal cell carcinoma. It was much more involved than I thought it would be. The meds made me sick and I basically have been having a pity party for myself all week. Yesterday afternoon, I finally started feeling better. I wouldn't even look at the incision and stitches until today. My daughter and husband have been cleaning it and dressing it for me. I cried when I saw it. I won't bore you with the details here. I do plan to write a post about the entire process because I knew absolutely nothing of this beforehand. Luckily, I had a close friend that had and she walked me through the process. I hope to do that for you soon.

In the meantime, check out this week's inspiration! I actually went out to the grocery with my daughter and popped into Marshalls briefly leaving with a new pumpkin spice candle. It has me so ready for fall!

  1. My husband had the mohs surgery on his neck about five years ago, you wouldn’t even know it if I didn’t tell you. Thank goodness you went when you did and it is behind you. You will be closely monitored in the future but that is a good thing. Cheer up, you are lovely and will continue to be. Consider yourself to be one of the lucky ones. 🌷❤️

  2. Christy, I have had a total of four basal cell carcinomas removed from my face over a period of time. First of all, if you have to get a skin cancer, basal cell carcinoma is the one you want. It does not spread, and it does not metastasize. Second, the MOHS procedure is somewhat grueling, because they make you wait to make sure they got all of the cancer before they stitch you up. I think my MOHS procedure (only one was removed using MOHS) lasted about 4 hours. But once they are done, you can be confident that every last piece of cancer is gone. Also, in MOHS, they don’t remove any more skin than is absolutely necessary. The best thing you can do is keep the wound very clean and keep it moisturized with whatever the doctor told you to use. The better you take of the wound, the better the ultimate results will be.

Christy, you are a pretty lady, and I understand that having skin removed from your face is difficult to accept. And I don’t know how large an area was involved or where it was located. What I can tell you is that in time the wound heals, and it becomes a lot less obvious than you may imagine.

Best wishes for a successful recovery!

I love hearing from you!
