I hope you are having a great week and a restful Saturday.

This week has flown by. It has been beautiful here in the south. I had let my walking routine slide by since October, and I've put on a few unwanted pounds.

I've gotten back into my routine over the last 2 weeks. I've been walking about 3.5 miles almost every day unless it rains. It has helped my lower back. I've been listening to some great books. Bentley loves to walk with me. When it's chilly, he looks adorable in this red coat. He has it in a size medium. I love that I can skip the harness with this coat.

This coming week is going to be busy! I am hosting a baby shower for my daughter-in-law. I'll be sharing all the details.

The following week, I will be helping them with the nursery. Our first grandbaby is due on March 31st. Everyone is excited. We are going to go by Papa and Nana.

I helped them pick out a few things for the nursery. We are doing a wallpaper accent wall. The paper that they decided on is due to arrive today. Fingers crossed not only that it looks great, but that I can install it. I have NEVER installed wallpaper. Do you have any tips for me? It is prepasted.

We have gotten back into cooking healthy in the new year. I was pretty indulgent over the holidays. LOL! Sweets are my weakness. We have been getting Hungry Root delivered with 3 meals for 2 per week. Everything has been wonderful.

I am focusing on getting one of the upstairs guest rooms complete. I'll be sharing plans for that soon.

The Look

Here are few recent outfits that I have worn. I wear jeans most days if running errands. If I am just at home….it's leggings or sweatpants.

FIT TIP: I love these fleece turtlenecks. You can fold them down if you don't like them as high. They keep me warm. They are pricey and I bought them when on sale. I also have a berry-colored one. This is the Greenpoint style (mid-hip length). My sale colors are sold out, but I have linked another pretty color. HINT: Search for coupon codes and try to add one. I found one when I ordered this after Christmas and got an additional discount. I am wearing a size medium. My jeans are a size .5 from Chico's. My flats are a true size 8.

In the Kitchen

An Instagram account that I follow shared this combination for a lunch idea. I made a big batch and had it for lunch 4 days. It is so good. It's not a recipe, but more of just tossing together for taste. It's pretty much the way I make roasted veggies except the chickpeas. This is what helps to make it filling as a stand-alone meal.

Roasted Luch Veggies

  • zucchini
  • red onion
  • squash
  • cauliflower
  • grape tomatoes
  • Brussel sprouts
  • sweet peppers
  • can of chickpeas
  • Smoked Paprika, not regular
  • Garlic granules
  • salt and pepper
  • red pepper flakes
  • olive oil

Toss everything on a parchment-lined sheet pan. Seasoning to taste heavy on the smoked paprika. I should have added more salt. Roast at 400 for about 20-25 minutes.

I served mine on a little fresh spinach with a spoon of plain full-fat Greek yogurt. It is so good and filling!

breakfast on plate

I cooked us a big late breakfast for Valentine's Day! It was such a treat. We didn't go out or have a fancy dinner. We had 7pm tickets to the Clemson basketball game.

What I'm Reading

I love to read AND listen to books. If you are looking for a way to get more steps in with your walking…..listen to books! You will want to keep walking to listen. I also listen while doing chores around the house. I will use my earbuds while walking, While in the house I will use a Bluetooth speaker that I can carry around with me or our Alexa.

I read actual printed books as well as on Kindle. I prefer my Kindle, but it is nice to hold a real book occasionally.

I've had my Audible membership for a while, and LOVE it! It gives me one book credit per month.

Let me share with you how I read on Kindle and listen to books as well. Get yourself a library card!

Then add the LIBBY and HOOPLA apps to your phone.

I will typically check to see if a book is available there first before using my credit or buying. Using these 2 apps with your library card is FREE!!! I love FREE.

There may be a waitlist if it is a newer title or popular. That's ok. Sometimes the wait can be lengthy. If I'm not willing to wait, I will just purchase. If it is new or popular, you NEED to finish the book in the allowed checkout time. Sometimes you can renew, and sometimes you may have to get back in the queue. If that happens, when it is available again…..it will download where you left off.

Get in the habit of always carrying a book with you to get in a little extra time. That way if you are waiting at the doctor's office or to get your car serviced….you are prepared!

It was my goal to read more than 12 books last year, and I completed that task. Check out that list which has been updated with my thoughts on the books. Here is my list for 2024. This is the list of definites for the year. I have a goal of 36 books this year. I will sprinkle in lots of audiobooks as well.

Below is what I have read or listened to so far in 2024.

What We've Bought

  • We have been having trouble with delivery drivers like Amazon, FedEx, and UPS driving in our flowerbeds and grass. It is so frustrating with sprinkler heads. I bought these signs. We will see if it helps.
  • It's that time of year to start putting this in your flowerbeds. Hubby is putting it out this weekend.
  • I ordered this sweet book, When I Pray for You, for a baby shower.
  • I ordered one of these cordless lamps in brass. The brass is sold out, but still available in black. Here is another option.
  • I've been doing a lot of organizing in the new year. I bought 2 sets of these shoe organizers for our closet. It allows me to get more pairs of shoes on a shelf. It looks so tidy now. These are just for my shoes. I think my husband's would be too big.
  • I bought 2 of these USB lighters. My kids had a fit over them, so I sent them home with them. Now I need to order me one. Ha, ha!

Enjoy your Saturday!!!
