backyard playing croquet

Adirondack Chairs | String Lights | Wicker Furniture | Similar Croquet Set

Last weekend we celebrated Father's Day. It was a week late, but a wonderful time. We love playing croquet. I was able to find an LL Bean set on Facebook Marketplace. They are no longer available online, but I linked a similar set from Amazon. It's a low-key game that any skill level can play.

chicken stir fry

We cooked a one dish meal on the Blacktone griddle of Chicken Stir Fry. My hubby got new grill tools and this set of spatulas and oil/water bottles are truly superior. I am going to have to write up a recipe for this. It is so good!!!!

FIT TIP: Size down in the linen shorts. They are big and seem to stretch with wear. I did not size down. Don't hate being large, but could have sized down per the reviews. The Quince linen shirt is from last spring and still going strong. It is so versatile. I am wearing a medium in this per reviews but wear a small in most Quince.

In the Kitchen

chicken bake

Wow!!! This Mediterranean Chicken recipe is amazing!!! I can't wait to make it again. It will be on repeat.

sourdough starter

Sourdough Starter

I used to make sourdough starter and bread all the time when the kids were young. I decided to dive back into it. This time I bought this readymade starter. It's so easy and truly a game-changer! I also bought this sourdough book and made my first loaf with the basic recipe. More on breadmaking coming soon.

sourdough bread

This was my first loaf baked in my cast iron skillet.

sliced sourdough bread

It slices beautifully!

grilled cheese

We made bacon-grilled cheese last Saturday night for dinner with freshly sliced tomato. It was sooooo good!

cutting board with veggies

The kids gave me this new cutting board for Mother's Day. It is so fabulous. I chopped veggies for a recipe from this cookbook.

My pots look incredible this year! I added 2 of these self-watering pots this year and that may be why they are looking so good.

What I'm Reading

I love to read AND listen to books. If you are looking for a way to get more steps in with your walking…..listen to books! You will want to keep walking to listen. I also listen while doing chores around the house. I will use my earbuds while walking, While in the house I will use a Bluetooth speaker that I can carry around with me or our Alexa.

I read actual printed books as well as on Kindle. I prefer my Kindle, but holding a real book occasionally is nice.

I've had my Audible membership for a while, and LOVE it! It gives me one book credit per month.

Let me share how I read on Kindle and listen to books. Get yourself a library card!

Then add the LIBBY and HOOPLA apps to your phone.

I will typically check to see if a book is available there first before using my credit or buying. Using these 2 apps with your library card is FREE!!! I love FREE.

There may be a waitlist if it is a newer title or popular. That's ok. Sometimes the wait can be lengthy. If I'm not willing to wait, I will just purchase. If it is new or popular, you NEED to finish the book in the allowed checkout time. Sometimes you can renew, and sometimes you may have to get back in the queue. If that happens, when it is available again…..it will download where you left off.

Get in the habit of always carrying a book with you to get in a little extra time. That way if you are waiting at the doctor's office or to get your car serviced….you are prepared!

It was my goal to read more than 12 books last year, and I completed that task. Check out that list which has been updated with my thoughts on the books. Here is my list for 2024. This is the list of definites for the year. I have a goal of 36 books this year. I will sprinkle in lots of audiobooks as well. Here is an update for 2024.

What Caught My Eye

Here are a few things from around the internet that caught my eye this week.

This post from Southern Living has some beautiful outdoor living inspiration.

tablescape

Julliet from Make Mine a Spritzer shared tips for styling a tablescape. The green is so fresh!

bar cart

Bamboo and wicker small pieces add classic charm to a home. They work beyond the bar. This bar cart is lovely!

bench

This bench is on sale for a wonderful price. Bences are great for extra seating or a spot to remove your shoes. This would work against a wall, a foyer, in front of a bed, or even in front of a fireplace.

Thank you so much for being here today with me! I hope your weekend is joyful. XO, Christy
