SUMMER IN THE KITCHEN
It's summer time here at our home. It's complete with sleeping late teens, later nights watching TV and reading, evenings in the backyard….you've got the idea.
I am overjoyed that Marty from A Stroll Thru Life invited me to participate in her 2015 Summer Home Tour. Marty is just the sweetest and has incredible decorating style.
We've got 5 days and 30 bloggers to inspire your summer home.
Last week I shared our Summer Family Room. Today I am sharing Summer in the Kitchen.
Welcome! I look forward to sharing one of my favorite rooms in our home, the kitchen.
My kitchen is mainly functional so I don't change the cooking area around very much. I do have wonderful space on the island to style a seasonal vignette.
My Knock-Out Roses are in full bloom right now. They look lovely with my newly painted rooster. He used to be red. A few of my favorite summer cookbooks are handy in the basket tray.
This is the perfect spot for one of my favorite photos of my babies. Well, they will always be my babies even though they are 18 and 16!
The wet bar is an area that I like to change out for the seasons. In the fall and winter it serves as a coffee and hot chocolate bar. In the spring and summer I change it out for a beverage and cocktail station.
Lighter pink Knock-Out Roses rests in this antique creamer.
Gone is the weekly menu that keeps us sane during the school year. We take a more carefree approach with dinners in the summer opting for fresh meals from the local produce stand until our garden starts producing. Most nights we grill and eat fairly light.
This is probably the area in the kitchen that I have the most decorating fun.
The chandelier is a favorite of mine in this space. I like to keep the table rather simple in the summer. This year I have my painted Hobby Lobby cow and the clay pot topiaries I recently made.
Here it is changed up a little bit with the Clay Pot Topiaries.
I've decided to keep dinnerware on the table like this straight from the dishwasher to make table setting easier for anyone in the family whether we dine inside or out.
The DINER sign was a Pottery Barn Inspired DIY project that really completed the look.
Just 2 bouquets of grocery store daisies complete the look in the dining area. I look forward to my Black-eyed Susans and Purple Cone Flower blooming.
I'm enjoying the 2 trays that I have from the Better Homes & Garden collection at Wal-Mart.
I decided to embrace color here this summer. I went white during the spring, but borrowed my patterned plates from another spot in the house to change the look here.
See how fun they are!
I adore my bottle rack that my hubby gave me a couple of years ago for my birthday. I removed all of the mugs and added my collection of mason jars for easy entertaining. I can easily move this to the island close to the drink area for a cook-out. My painted tool box is perfect for my cook-book collection.
Pay close attention to your bottles. Two of these were from an olive oil bottle and salad dressing bottle. If it has a pretty shape, remove the labels and they make lovely vases. Grouped together is even better. They look nice with my vintage print.
Thanks for stopping by. More to come with the screened porch and formal dining room.
Be sure to check out the other stops on the tour!
