Simple Touches on the Front Porch

front door with chinoiserie pots

Welcome to our home! We are in the height of pollen season here in the south. As a result, I will add more plants in May when I do a big porch clean.

I couldn't resist giving it a little mini clean to brighten the spirits after a long winter.

basket wreath with pink flowers

I made a tulip basket wreath last spring with this basket. Last summer I freshened it up with this look for summer. I decided to leave it as is this year for spring. If it's not broken…….

In recent years, I have gone with fewer decor items on the porch. To make more of an impact, I've used a larger ginger jar on the thrift store console table

I found this ginger jar at HomeGoods last year. They are a great source for them, but you have to check frequently.

Here is a secret, all of the plants that you see on the porch right now are faux!

garden stool

I adore garden stools outside and inside! They are versatile for a stool, drink table, or plant stand.

Spring Dining Room

Here is just a peek of the Dining Room. Be sure to return tomorrow to see all the details on this month's Pinterest Challenge. It's going to be a good one with many ideas for your Easter table.

Spring Family Room

family room

The only thing that I did to take this room from winter to spring, was to add a couple of rabbit statues, a few Easter eggs, and floral changes.

spring mantel

I always use faux flowers on the mantel. It's easier since the mantel is tall and no mess. Faux flowers have come a long way these days.

The wooden pillar holders and the wood under the ginger jar ground the mantel. The faux peonies add a light and airy touch. The little bunny has been with me for almost 30 years.

I kept this area the same but added a decorative bird's nest with eggs.

mini oil

A simple yet classic way to add a touch of spring is by adding miniature floral oils to your vignettes.

chinoiserie dish

This bowl was a recent vintage find at one of my favorite shops.

peonies in chinoiserei

These faux peonies are extremely lifelike. They come in bouquets of 2. I ordered 2 sets for a total of 4 bouquets. I'll use these trough the summer.

mirror over table

The style of lamp is very popular again. This one is a thrift store makeover with a new shade. I recently tried my hand at making my pleated shade. It is an easy DIY!!!

family room

Our TV just went out in the family room. We went with a frame TV for the art as well as the anti-glare screen. I still need to get a frame for it.

Spring Breakfast Room

breakfast room

This room has stayed pretty consistent through the years furniture-wise. I did finally add the plate gallery wall above the hutch and I'm smitten with it.

The sweet little rabbit candy dish was a thrift store find a few years ago.

I have quite the rabbit collection. Most of them I use through the summer.

kitchen table

I changed the heavy wood dough bowl for this lighter look. The oversized ceramic bowl is perfect for my chinoiserie balls.

This table look doesn't scream Easter, so I will use it until the start of summer.

wall art

This cake stand stays on display. Instead of leaving it empty or with muffins, my hips don't need, I added faux easter eggs.

The turquoise wood hanging rack for the cutting boards is a piece of the original wood and color from the antique armoire that we restored in the formal dining room.

  1. I always enjoy seeing your charming home Christy! Every space is so inviting, and I especially adore your spring breakfast room with more of your bunny collection! It’s so bright and cozy, I just want to linger with a cup of coffee all morning! Happy spring!

  2. I know you get asked this question all the time but what is the paint color of your den????? It looks like a light grayed blue and I love it! Many thanks!

    1. Thank you! It is Agreeable Gray by Sherwin Williams. It’s a great warm neutral. It can change look depending on lighting. I have to love it a long time due to the expense of painting those high walls. LOL! We still love it.

  3. Christy, your home and porch are so lovely, and the keyword is definitely “effortless”. Your blue/white pieces are perfect for spring and add so much to your traditional look. A few bunnies and florals are the best start for spring. Love your door basket, too. I remember the green pollen from Georgia. I couldn’t do much of anything until that was over with. I always love coming to visit your beautiful spaces. Happy Spring!

  4. You are always the classic style with gorgeous touches. I love the blue and white balls and the new vintage bowl. What a find! Everything looks so happy. Glad you could join us this month! pinned

  5. Christy, you had me at front porch–yours is absolutely charming and I am smitten with your gorgeous door basket! It is a pleasure to tour your beautiful home. Blessings, Cecilia @ My Thrift Store Addiction

  6. Christy,
Your home is just stunning! I love that fabulous piece in your dining room and the basket arrangement on your front door is lovely. Great tour.

    1. Thanks so very much! I assume you are talking about the armoire? If so it came out of my husband’s grandparent’s old home that was being torn down. We rescued it and restored it.

I love hearing from you!
