My Favorite Beauty Items

Thanks for sharing!

It's been a while since I've shared a Fab Five Friday post! Today I thought that I'd share Five of my Favorite Beauty Items!

I turned 50 in December so great skin care and anti-aging treatments have been of great interest to me in recent years. I've been looking into spa treatments like the HydraFacial. I am really interested in this facial, but it is VERY expensive! Typically to get the best benefits, you have to do these ongoing at least every 6 weeks. Pricing in my area started at $250 per facial! What!!! That is not in my budget. I don't think I could even spend that if I had the money.

I started looking around for at-home alternatives. Guess what? I already owned one, and it's incredibly affordable. I confess that I used to be kind of lazy about keeping up with such at-home treatments.

mircoderm facial

This is what I have owned for quite a few years, but for some reason I got lazy with it. It may have also been because I had run out of the pads. I have been using this Neutrogena Microdermabrasion System 3 times so far in the last week. I'm committing to 3 times per week. You simply put a pad on blue side up, wet the pad and turn it on. It has 2 speeds. I've been using at full speed. If you have sensitive skin, you may want to start with the lower speed at first. I am running it 2 minutes per facial area. The blue pad will start a foaming action. Since my chin area is smaller, I just hit it when I run it over each side of my face for 2 minutes each. Then I do my forehead and temples for 2 minutes. All in, it takes 6 minutes. I could seriously tell a difference after the first use! My face was so smooth and soft! It comes with 12 pads to start. You'll use a new pad with each use. You can buy the refill HERE. Immediately apply your serums and such. My face is smoother, more even toned and I swear my chin breakouts are better!

skin care

I have been using the natural skincare line, LimeLife by Alcone for about 1 year and 8 months. This Sotoks and One Drop Wonder Collection have worked wonders for me. I absolutely love it. I put 1 pump of Sotoks in my palm with 2-3 drops of One Drop Wonder, blend together then apply all over my face. You can also purchase them individually. The ingredients in Sotoks reduce the appearance of dark spots and tighten skin, while One Drop Wonder boosts their effectiveness and provides skin with beneficial antioxidants and Omega-6 known to fight visible signs of aging. One Drop Wonder is literally 1 ingredient….Pomifera Oil (Osage Orange Seed Oil)! We use this liquid gold a lot in my family. It has even healed my husband's patches of eczema. When he feels it flaring up, he puts a drop on it. It's also great at healing scars. It's well worth the price and this little duo lasts me about 4-5 months. LimeLife also offers a 30 day money back guarantee.

face tool

This little guy has been around for a while, and I do admit that I was skeptical. Neutrogena Light Therapy is not expensive at all. I read up on it as well as reviews. I decided to order one. It did come with batteries. I have been getting occasional hormonal breakouts. This really works! I was surprised. You turn it on and blace the light over the blemish lightly and leave it there for 2 minutes. The device turns off at the end of the 2 minute cycle. You can do it while watching TV. You are supposed to treat a spot up to 3x per day.

pillow case

I'm sure you've heard of silk pillowcases being great for hair and skin. I'd been using satin for many years, but switched to silk. They seriously keep my hair from being frizzy and totally messed up the next day. They are also known to help prevent wrinkles! They feel cooler at night, I sleep so much better with it!

lectrofan

I know you are probably wondering why in the world I have a little sleep sound fan machine in this post of favorite beauty finds! LOL! I consider this to be apart of my beauty regime. Good sleep is a necessity for our bodies and great skin. This LectroFan was probably the best purchase that I made in 2014! I am a very light sleeper! As a result, I'd get up all during the night to go to the couch and even started sleeping with earplugs. I really detest sleeping with earplugs. I can hear myself breathing. Ugh!!! Once summer, our air was out for a couple of days, and we put a fan in our room to sleep until we could get the air repaired. That big fan was magic, but I didn't like the look of it in the room all the time. I researched and came across this little noise machine. It's pure perfection! You can select fan sounds or white noise. I went with a fan that makes a constant sound. Then you can adjust the volume. I run it all night and sleep so much better now!!!

So there you have it! I have more favorites, but these are probably my top 5!

skin

I took this photo with my cell after the first microdermabrasion treatment. I did not edit the photo in anyway. I use LimeLife Skincare and Makeup. I am a beauty guide with LimeLife. You can check out the products and shop HERE. Let me know if you'd like to get color matched for the foundation or have questions about the skincare. The makeup is professional quality!

  1. Hi Christy! Wow, your skin is flawless! I don’t think my skin has looked like that since high school, lol! I just turned 57 and it seems like when I hit 50 my skin lost every single drop of moisture it ever had. It literally feels like sandpaper and it happened over night, POOF just that quick! I had some microdermabrasion treatments and found them to be too uncomfortable, so I stopped them. I live on the coast so I was looking for any excuse to stop wearing makeup, and living down here it literally just melts off. So I probably wouldn’t be interested in the makeup until I got my skin in shape. I’ve always had to use a white noise machine or fan to get a decent nights sleep. Since I went through menopause, I have terrible insomnia. I also heard many, many years ago about sleeping on a silk pillowcase helping to reduce wrinkles. I believe it has truly helped me because even though my skin is in horrible condition, I don’t have any wrinkles, just expression lines. Botox fixed that but I decided to just age gracefully. I couldn’t see spending all that money trying to fight off the inevitable fact that I was just going to age regardless. I also use one of those skin exfoliating brushes. Mine is a brush that rotates though. It helps. Ive tried every skin cream from low cost to the expensive and nothing works. So I may try this that you’re promoting and see what happens. It certainly can’t hurt! LOL! Thank you for telling us about it. Us ladies over 50 need all the SCOOP on what works and what doesnt! LOL! I also want to thank you for using Black print on your blog, because even with my glasses I can’t read that beige print all these bloggers are using on their sites. It’s just awful trying to read them so I don’t bother. Haha! So thanks for thinking of your readers, it means a lot to old ladies like me, lol. Have a great Sunday! ????

I love hearing from you!
