Small Breed Dog Tips

I've had pets all my life. They have always been treated as a member of our family. SInce I've been married, we've always had large Labrador Retrievers. They are wonderful, active dogs. We find them perfect for our active lifestyle.
Six years ago our daughter really wanted a small dog for her birthday. We knew that we needed to incorporate a small dog that would fit with the temperament of our sweet lab and blend well with our family.
We seriously researched dogs. We even took a test online to find our perfect fit. Would you believe that 3 out of the 4 of us got the match of a West Highland White Terrier!
We then deepened our research and knew this was the breed for us.
Here are a few Small Breed Dog Tips!
Bentley has been a total joy! Not a day goes by that he doesn't keep us laughing and entertained. He has a huge personality. We joke that he's a large dog trapped in a small dog's body.
Small Breed Tip: They need a nutritious food made especially for small breeds.
Small Breed Tip: Exercise your pet daily! Exercise along with a controlled diet, will keep his weight within recommended guidelines for optimal health.
We have always traveled with our dogs. Sadly, we lost our lab a year ago at 14. As a result, he gets even more attention. Bentley LOVES to go in the car and always heads to the beach with us. Treats are a must for travel.
Wellness CORE® is a family of grain-free, natural pet food, treats and mini meal toppers that is big on protein and flavor. It is their belief that pets love and thrive on hearty animal proteins.
We love our Bentley and want him to have the best food possible. We are so pleased with the variety that Wellness Core® offers.
Ashlyn is home for college and Bentley is over the moon. They spend so much time together. She takes him on the go with her a lot. A vigorous playtime gets him rewarded with a couple of treats. Wellness Core® offers Petite Treats in grain free flavors. Westies tend to have allergy issues. Grain free works best for Bentley.
Bentley thrives on playing with his tennis ball.
Small Breed Tip: Make exercise fun! Balls and frisbees made for dogs are great choices.
We've always heard that small dogs are picky eaters and take forever to eat a meal. This has never been the case for any of our dogs. Bentley lives for food. It's actually quite comical. He eats so fast that we've had to buy a special metal ball that goes in his food bowl that he has to eat around. This keeps him from eating too fast!
He literally started drooling at the food. Notice the chunks in the Wellness CORE® Raw Rev Small Breed Food. It truly is a wonderfully nutrient-dense meal that your pets can sink their teeth into. Grain free and protein rich makes it an excellent choice for Bentley.
100% freeze dried raw meat pieces give him a little variety with the crunch! He devours it!!!
Talk about him drooling……Wellness CORE® Mini Meals in various unique flavors and textures are great for the occasional meal treats to add to the dry food or on their own. The variety with Wellness CORE® will definitely keep Bentley from getting bored with his food. Can you tell we are all about spoiling him!
With both kids in college, he has truly become our baby!

So glad I found your website. Bentley looks great 🙂
Thanks so much! He’s our baby!
He’s so cute, his coat looks healthy too, maybe from the good stuff you are feeding him.
Thanks so much! He’s a cutie!
Great tips! They’re definitely a bit different than large breeds!
Thanks so much!
He is very cute. I have 6 dogs in my house. They are like my kids.
Thanks so much! Yes, they are like our kids!!!
Bently is adorable! I had a dog like that as a child. I vowed not to get a dog with long hair again tho. We live where it gets crazy hot in the summer and they are miserable. 🙁
My Chihuahua loves these foods and treats.
Thanks so much! We really try to keep him clipped more frequently in the hot months. Luckily, he doesn’t shed horribly. Our black lab really shed!! So glad your pup loves the food and treats!!
