Christmas Trees and Memories
Merry Christmas
Are your halls decked, your gifts wrapped and your cookies baked?
If you answered no, you're not alone!!
My halls are decked! Lots to wrap and still need to bake traditional sugar cookies and Monster cookies.
Today I am sharing our 2 main Christmas trees along with my dear blogging friends and a few memories along the way.
I stood on the porch to try to give you a full shot inside through the foyer to the family room.
We have been getting a Leland Cyprus tree in the family room I'd say about 8 of the last 10 Christmases. This one is 9-1/2 feet. We've gotten up to 12 feet one year, but it's just too hard getting it in and out.
We've been going to the same tree farm for about 5 years now.
Here's the one! Woods is always over enthusiastic about photos. Ashlyn is always smile ready!
Hubby is sawing her down!
I love the warm colored LED lights. The cool ones have a bluish glow, but the warm are more golden. I use a lot of lights! I use regular lights and the larger faceted bulb kind.
My mother made these Wizard of Oz ornaments many, many years ago when I was a little girl. They are well over 40 years old. Aren't they beautiful!
She knew that I loved them (I hinted every year) and gave them to me a few years ago so my kids could enjoy them.
This tree has no formal theme. It is just full of collected and handmade ornaments through the years.
I do not store these ornaments in the attic with the others. I keep them in a drawer downstairs.
This is my artificial slimline tree that I purchased after Christmas a few years ago at a great sale. I added this tree only to hang my Lenox ornament collection that my mother-in-law started for us years ago. I get a new one every year on auto delivery. The family room tree gets a lot of traffic, and sadly we have lost a couple from breakage.
A little tip here to save money. Upholstery ticking, tape, webbing….whatever you want to call it is already very cheap. It can be wide and stiff for a tree garland. With this being a slimline tree, I cut the webbing in half to make in more narrow and got double the use out of it!
Up close of our Lenox treasures to hand down to our children one day.
Just to keeps thing real for you… Our tree was like this….lights only for almost 3 weeks before we all had time to decorate it together!
I hope you have a wonderful Christmas week!
I'll be back Wednesday to share a few more pics from our home and to wish you all a Merry Christmas!
Three of my blogging friends are sharing their trees and memories as well today. I know they'd love for you to stop by!
