Saturdays on the Porch #46

I wore this dress to church last Sunday. It is truly a very versatile dress. I got it last year. You can see how I styled it in this post last year.

It's really great for travel. I wore it for a couple of days in France. I wore it like this during the day with walking sandals.

This entire look is from Amazon!

Fit Tip: I am wearing a size medium in the dress and a size 8 in the sandals. All are true to size.

By simply pulling the dress off the shoulder and adding a clutch, you can take it to an evening look for dinner.

Last Sunday evening we celebrated my mom and son's birthdays. That's why the presents are in the background.

Thank you so very much for all of the social media input on my dress selection for Ashlyn's wedding. I ordered and sent back 5 different dresses. Sequins, lace, and glitz were just not me!

No makeup here, so excuse the look. LOL! I did add some lipstick. These are just a few of the photos that my seamstress asked me to send her. She was out of town.

The blush gown that I also loved was so large that I couldn't even tell if I would like it. It wasn't worth changing sizes. I would have needed 2 sizes smaller. I ultimately decided that I would be too hot in it. It was so pretty!!!

The color reads a bit navy or black here. It is actually a soft grey color.

I decided on this one. Ashlyn and my husband love it! The wedding is at an old, historic mansion. It fits the venue and her wedding.

It's a beautiful, heavy type fabric without being heavy.

It is me, and I feel very comfortable in it.

It's hard to tell in this photo, but it is too big up top especially. There is so much extra fabric in the back, shoulders, and bust. It needs to be talked in the waist and hips as well. I don't think I will worry about the hip area due to the style.

I plan to wear my hair up loosely with long rhinestone earrings.

I will also wear silver sandals, a silver clutch, and a rhinestone bracelet.

Recently on the Blog

This week I participated in a fun blog hop featuring 17 different peach recipes! Be sure to check it out.

I recently was on a coastal home idea tour. This is NOT a full-blown tour of coastal homes. It features ways to add a few coastal accents to get a coastal feel this summer.

These joggers are the best! They are perfect for travel. I wore them on the flight to and from France. They recently had a sale and I got 3 more pairs. I got camouflage, green and maroon color. They are lightweight and quick drying.

FIT TIP: They are true to size. I wear a medium.

What I'm Reading

I love to read AND listen to books. If you are looking for a way to get more steps in with your walking…..listen to books! You will want to keep walking to listen. I also listen while doing chores around the house. I will use my earbuds while walking, While in the house I will use a Bluetooth speaker that I can carry around with me or our Alexa.

I read actual printed books as well as on Kindle. I prefer my Kindle, but it is nice to hold a real book occasionally.

I've had my Audible membership for a while, and LOVE it! It gives me one book credit per month.

Let me share with you how I read on Kindle and listen to books as well. Get yourself a library card!

Then add the LIBBY and HOOPLA apps to your phone.

I will typically check to see if a book is available there first before using my credit or buying. Using these 2 apps with your library card is FREE!!! I love FREE.

There may be a waitlist if it is a newer title or popular. That's ok. Sometimes the wait can be lengthy. If I'm not willing to wait, I will just purchase. If it is new or popular, you NEED to finish the book in the allowed checkout time. Sometimes you can renew, and sometimes you may have to get back in the queue. If that happens, when it is available again…..it will download where you left off.

Get in the habit of always carrying a book with you to get in a little extra time. That way if you are waiting at the doctor's office or to get your car serviced….you are prepared!

It was my goal to read more than 12 books last year, and I completed that task. Check out that list which has been updated with my thoughts on the books. Here is my list for 2024. This is the list of definites for the year. I have a goal of 36 books this year. I will sprinkle in lots of audiobooks as well.

What We've Bought

Have a fabulous weekend! I am off to go on a beach walk with my family! XO, Christy
