Saturdays on the Porch
Good morning, friends! I hope you've had a wonderful week! This week has been full of cozy moments, new finds, and a few favorite outfits and recipes I can't wait to share with you. From what’s been on my radar to the books I’ve been reading, I’ve got a lot to catch you up on. Grab your coffee (or tea!), and let’s chat about all the little things that have made this week special!
Spring has officially arrived in the South, and with it comes the vibrant blooms and, of course, the pollen. Despite the sneezes, I've been enjoying the warmer weather and the opportunity to refresh our home decor. The screened porch is next on my list for a seasonal update and big clean, and I can't wait to share the transformation with you.

The Look
White Jeans | Gauze Top | Sandals | Scarf | Bag
I will be sharing this campaign with Coldwater Creek on Instagram soon. Here is a first look at the outfit they sent me.
Fit Tip
These jeans in white are not see through at all. I am wearing an 8 regular. They do have stretch and do give after initial wear. They are long. I have them rolled under. I may hem, but I wore these all day like this rolled under and they stayed put. So I may wear like this for now so that I have lenght if I want to wear with wedges. I tyically size up in white denim, but didn't need to with these.
I am wearing a small in the top and find it TTS.
The slides were a recent purchase from Quince. They are the Birkenstock look without the pricetag. They are TTS.
What I'm Reading
I love to read AND listen to books. If you are looking for a way to get more steps in with your walking…..listen to books! You will want to keep walking to listen. I also listen while doing chores around the house. I will use my earbuds while walking, While in the house I will use a Bluetooth speaker that I can carry around with me or our Alexa.
I read actual printed books as well as on Kindle. I prefer my Kindle, but holding a real book occasionally is nice.
I've had my Audible membership for a while, and LOVE it! It gives me one book credit per month.
Let me share how I read on Kindle and listen to books. Get yourself a library card!
Then add the LIBBY and HOOPLA apps to your phone.
I will typically check to see if a book is available there first before using my credit or buying. Using these 2 apps with your library card is FREE!!! I love FREE.
There may be a waitlist if it is a newer title or popular. That's ok. Sometimes the wait can be lengthy. If I'm not willing to wait, I will just purchase. If it is new or popular, you NEED to finish the book in the allowed checkout time. Sometimes you can renew, and sometimes you may have to get back in the queue. If that happens, when it is available again…..it will download where you left off.
Get in the habit of always carrying a book with you to get in a little extra time. That way if you are waiting at the doctor's office or to get your car serviced….you are prepared!
It was my goal to read more than 12 books last year, and I completed that task. Check out that list which has been updated with my thoughts on the books. Here is my list for 2024. This is the list of definites for the year. I have a goal of 36 books this year. I will sprinkle in lots of audiobooks as well. Here is an update for 2024.
- I am still reading The God of the Woods. It is a mystery with great reviews.
- I just finished reading Broken Country. It is a really good book with a couple of twists at the end.
- The Housemaid (book 1)
- The Heiress was a read for my book club.
- I also recently finished Mercury.
- The Magic of Sea Glass.
What We've Bought
- I am keeping my granddaughter for the next 2 weeks plus more days in May. The weather is getting great, so I purchased this stroller today. I wanted something that I could take her on walks with me.
- I also ordered this easy-to-set-up playpen for her. I wanted a safe place for her to play and keep the dogs away from her, and taking her plush toys!
- My food storage container drawer was out of hand. I bought this lid organizer and it's so great now!
- We easily replaced one of the toilet seats in an upstairs bath.
- We also upgraded the toilet bowl lever.
- I've got to write a dedicated blog post on my new raised bed for my herbs and a couple of tomatoes. I LOVE it so much! No more bending down to work and snip herbs. Plus no male dogs peeing on them! Ha, ha
- Speaking of cleaning veggies and fruit, we've been using this produce wash. It's amazing how dirty the produce is.
- Just placed our 13th order of this neck and chest cream.
In the Kitchen
This week, I revisited my classic pound cake recipe. It's a timeless dessert that's simple to make and always a crowd-pleaser. Perfect for any occasion, this pound cake pairs wonderfully with fresh berries and a dollop of whipped cream.
If you are looking for a last-minute dish for your Easter meal, this broccoli salad is it! It requires no cooking. It comes together quickly and is a crowd pleaser. Don't you just love a dish you can pull out of the fridge and put on the buffet.
What Caught My Eye
I can't wait to try this Orzo Shrimp pasta dish for an upcoming Sunday lunch. I enjoy following Xandy on Instagram. She is a fellow South Carolinian.
I've got my eye on this tablecloth for summer!
We helped our son landscape the front of his new house. This is a great article on plantings for the front of your house.
This historic home tour of a New England home is a classic stunner!
Until next time, wishing you a wonderful weekend filled with joy and inspiration. XO, Christy
