A big thank you to my friend, Cindy, from County Road 407 for hosting this fun hop! Be sure to give her a visit. She's the first stop on today's tour!

Using Animals in Home Decor

I've always enjoyed using critters in my home decorating. (ha, ha)

I've used a number of animals from wall art, figurines, and ceramics to fabrics.

You will find them used in English and French Country styles, which is what I lean to in our home.

It's also popular in farmhouse-styled interiors.

My style is very vintage and eclectic with European influences.

Be sure to read to the end where you will find links to the other bloggers sharing how they use animals in their decor!

Ways that I use Animals

armoire

We have enjoyed collecting pieces during our 32 years of marriage. Would you believe that our dining room in our first house stayed empty for almost 10 years before deciding on just the right suite that we could afford?

This armoire was an antique store purchase from our beloved Southport, NC. We had to have a hitch installed to the back of our SUV in order to rent a Uhaul to bring it home. It's one of our favorite pieces.

The guest room has been a work in progress for 17 years. LOL! I just purchased this screen above the bed in a local vintage shop. I love the birds in it. More to come soon in the guest room!

Ashlyn has been called a giraffe by many. At 6 feet tall, she embraces it. You can see more of this thrift store bar cabinet HERE. Would you believe that it started out as a $30 top of a hutch?

Concrete Rabbits

These little rabbits may look like concrete, but they are actually a thrift store ceramic find!

This art was a fabulous thrift store makeover! European landscapes are my weakness.

I used a deer theme in the family room last Christmas.

I've had this rabbit lamp for over 20 years! I now use it on our screened porch.

Lots of animals on this landscape gallery wall!

These little birds make their way around the house. Here they are in this spring look!

This little cow creamer has been hanging out here for years.

This little hen was a fabulous thrift store makeover. I do love spray paint.

Christmas kitchen

I've had these hen and rooster ornaments for about 25 years. I treat them with kid gloves and have yet to break one! You can see more from our Christmas home HERE.

  1. Always enjoy seeing your beautiful French Country home. Decorating with animals is a natural with this look. You and Cindy have me thinking I need a cow creamer in my life;)

  2. Your gallery wall on the stairway is so gorgeous, Christy! And rabbits and chickens are the perfect all round French Country. Love your wonderful kitchen Christmas tree covered in Chickens. So fun and French-y!

  3. I snickered at your comment about not having dining room furniture for 10 years. I am the total opposite. I had to have each room filled even with cheap crap that I didn’t love! I obviously have issues. 😉 Love all of your animal ideas and I totally want to have a rooster Christmas tree this year. So fun! Thanks for joining us and showing off the amazing ways you use animals in your decor. Love the creativity.

  4. I’m glad to see that someone else loves critters as decor as much as me! My favorites are rabbits, birds, chickens, and deer, but I also have a squirrel and some turtles. I switch out some of the birds throughout the year depending on the season and color/type of the birds, and prefer rabbits for spring/summer and deer for fall/winter. A couple of years ago after we moved into our new house, I found the most amazing wicker deer head for our front room/library, it adds some whimsy to a room full of antiques. Thanks for sharing your ideas!

I love hearing from you!
